Question Vitamin question

My apologies if this question has been asked over and over, but there are just so many threads/posts to go through!

I've seen so many vitamins recommended to help w/ PCOS, but not all vitamins are created equally. For example, if I pick up two bottles of Saw Palmetto, the ingredients lists are completely different. I was hoping someone would give me an ingredients list for the various vitamins, so I know I'm taking the best ones. Better yet, would someone recommend a brand--like GNC, Nature's Made, Nature's Bounty, etc? It's such a pain because I don't want to pay all of this money for bad quality.

I want to take Saw Palmetto, Vitex, Evening Primrose, Alpha lipoic Acid and Biotin. Any advice on other vitamins to take? I take Furosemide (for blood pressure) and my doctor just started me on Metformin (500mg). I'd like to start a vitamin regimen.

I'd really appreciate any help you guys can provide.

Thanks.

Sorry - I cant be of any help there but I just wanted to suggest that you post this on the alternative remedies board. The girls over there know their stuff pretty good.

Good luck!

Here's what my naturopath recommended:

Take Vitex as an alcohol extract. Take 1/2 teaspoon in water every morning before eating. It should be a ratio of 1:4 Vitex:alcohol. If it's 1:8, then take 1 teaspoon.

Saw palmetto - take the equivalent of 240mg per day 2x per day away from food.

I can't recommend brands (I get different ones in Canada), but go for ones with just the one ingredient, without any other herbal additives.

For vitamins, my naturopath recommended (all of these are taken with food):
Chromium GTF - 250mcg twice a day (assists with blood sugar control)
Vitamin C - 2 grams twice a day (Ester-C type preferred - better absorption)
Vitamin E - 400 IUI
betacarotene - about 30,000 IUI per day
B-50 complex - twice a day
Flaxseed oil - one tablespoon per day or the equivalent in capsules

Hope this helps,
KBug
