Question Vitamins all at once??

I'm looking for some wisdom from all you cysters who are more vitamin/supplement savvy than me! My list of vitamins keeps growing & I'm just wondering, should I take them all at once?

I take a Prenatals, Calcium, Magnesium, Acidophilus as needed, & now just added B-12. I think the Mag & B-12 are supposed to be taken with Calcium, & the Calcium with vitamin D(in Prenatals), so my impression is to take them all at once probably after a meal. Sometimes it just seems like that is so many vitamins to be gulping down all at once & I don't know if they are less or more effective taken that way. Also, I don't know if the acidophilus needs to be taken with anything... probably not but it's easier to remember them all at once... but is it still as effective then?

Maybe I'm overthinking it , but I'm open to any thoughts. What do you cysters do - space 'em out or take 'em all at once?

Hmmmmm...

I would proabaly take most of your vitamins in the morning with food to avoid upset stomach and also make sure that the fat soluble vitamins can be absorbed properly. Definitely take the b12 in the am because if you take it at night you may not be able to fall asleep. Your b12 should also be taken in a sublingual tablet if possible as that will get you the most out of it since it does not abosrb as well in your digestive tract.

With the calcium -- you may need to space that out and take some of it later in the day because your body can only properly absorb about 200mg-500mg of calcium at a time. If you need to space it out some try to find a calcium supp. that has vitamin D and other minerals included with it.

The pro-biotics I take say to take them on an empty stomach. Does your acidopholis say anything on the bottle?

Hope this helps!

Claire

Thanks Claire! Very helpful!

I have been taking them all in the morning after breakfast but that is interesting about the calcium... I didn't know. Also, I never realized my calcium has NO vitamin D in it! Well, I'm due for a new bottle so maybe I'll have to look for a different kind. My acidophilus says with or without food but I guess I only take it when I feel like I need it so maybe that is not such a big deal... it has always worked whenever I take it so I won't worry about that. What is a sublingual tablet? I take Nature Made tablets... they are kind of chalky like an aspirin tablet. Thanks again!

I'm glad it helped!

A sublingual tablet is one that you hold under your tongue to dissolve instead of swallowing it. The vitamins get absorbed by the capillaries under your tongue. (This is how I have to take my ProgonB progesterone too.)

Here is an example of the sublingual lozenges:

I have also seen it available in a sublingual liquid that you drop under your tongue. Here is an example:

Thanks! That's what my allergy meds are... didn't know they were called that. I'll have to check them out when it is time for a new bottle. Thanks again
