Question vitamins with met

I need advice on which vitamins I should be taking. I am hearing a lot about B12. What dosage should I take? Also, what about Vitamin D? Whats the purpose of both of these?? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated...

Metformin leeches your body of B12 so you get tired. I have always had a problem hanging onto B12 and iron anyhow (runs in my dad's side of the family). I recommend a sublingual (dissolves under the tongue) form of B12 as it's much easier for your body to absorb. Usually if you find a sublingual form of B12 it's the right dosage.

I also take Vitamin D for other reasons... for instance, I read it significantly reduces the possibility of any kind of cancer. I can't remember hearing a connection with Metformin though...

I just take a b-complex with lunch. I haven't worried about what *dosage* it is, because it passes through your body quickly and your body will take what it needs. Just make sure to get a good quality brand.

Vitamin D is good for so many things and there are lots of articles on this website that you can research and learn why. I take a combination calcium - mg- zn - Vit D pill. and again, I didn't worry about the *dosage* I just bought a good quality brand and followed the directions.

You can research supplements and find out the therapeutic dosages on this site and on google... on google you might try a search combo of *pcos vitamin D* or whatever vitamin you are wondering about.

I wasn't aware that Met leeched vitamins from your system (amazing, considering I come from a family of diabetics on Met. ). Ya learn something new everyday!

But I can say that my Dr. *did* tell me to go ahead and start a pre-natal vitamin along with the Met. He recommended that due to most of his patients getting pregnant faster than they thought they would and it's best to already have the body ready for it. So, that's what I do... pre-natal every morning along with the vitamins and such that I get from my XXX Vitamin Water (B3, B5, B6 and B12 along with Vit. C, electrolytes and triple antioxidants).

**This is not a commercial, nor endorsement of Vitamin Water... I just like it.

I also haven't heard that you needed B12 but I will ask my doctor. Thanks for that info! I really love this site and all the new things I learn. My Dr told me to start prenatals as well so thats what I'm doing.

I need to get some B12 vitamins, I wasn't aware that metformin depleted your system.
Thanks

Hi gals, I took about 10 minutes and did some research on the whole Bvit Metformin thing. It appears that over the long run about 1/3 of people who take Metformin may develop a B12 deficiency from malabsorption. Listed below are a research article and an info leaflet from a fertility clinic.

Thanks for that! I just learned quite a bit just from reading the leaflet.
