Okay - I posted a question a couple of weeks back on had anyone heard of taking Vitex from day 14 of your cycle onwards only. I basically took that as a 'no', so I went back to my therapist and told her that (she's a chinese medicine herbalist and acupuncturist). She said that she feels Vitex causes too much heat when taken constantly. She said I could take it every second day if I wanted. Well I really didn't know what to do here, seeing as basically everything I'd read said to take it daily for PCOS. So, that's what I did (contrary to her advice) and I've just discovered that she is right. I am overheating quite badly. At night I have to throw off all of the covers (and it's winter here) and during the day I'm walking around in short sleeves with a lot of people saying to me 'aren't you cold??'. Has anyone else noticed this from Vitex? I didn't notice it the first time I took it, but I think that's just because no one had ever pointed it out to me before.

I never noticed too much heat when I took chaste tree berry everyday but I did notice loss of long term memory
I did not see your previous post but
I did take chaste tree berry cycle day 10 or 11 through 25 or 26.
My cycles regulated, I had four aunt flos,
and then I became pregnant with my daughter.

I just saw your reply to another post concerning Vitex - yours is the first time I've heard of someone only taking Vitex in the second half of their cycle. That's positive news for me, so I think I'm going to take my herbalists advice now and give it a go only from the middle of my cycle.

Hey, I'd probably only take it on certain cycle days if I ever had a cycle I'm just coming up to erm....yep.......that would be 64 days
Maybe If I ever get a cycle in the future I may try this.
It's funny you mention the overheating thing because I HAVE noticed this and it's mainly at night but that would be after my 4th capsule.....yeah I know.....just realised i was practically overdosing on it :o
Will have to monitor the level of fireyness (that a word??) in my skin now that I am on only ONE capsule!
Glad I'm not bonkers though, thought i was menopausal for a while there phew!!
Andrea.

i wonder if you tried taking chaste tree berry for a month or so and then stopped taking it
if you would start a cycle and 2 or 3 weeks?
maybe not--i think the younger you are the harder this cycle stuff is to treat--but it's worth a try.
i took progesterone for over ten years so i would cycle, but only spotted
chaste tree berry gets all of your body parts working together-
medications contradict what your body is wanting to do in my opinion-in other words my body wants to menstruate but i take day three of progesterone
then by the time i'm done taking day 10 of the progesterone my body isn't in the menstruation mood anymore
so medicatioons seem to fight against the body
but chaste tree berry seems to enhance what the body is wanting to do--so things cycle more freely--in my opinion.

Andrea I know exactly what you mean about 'if I ever had a cycle'. This last year is the first time in my life (except when I was on the pill, and that doesn't count) that I've ever had some sort of normality in the cycle department. Hopefully once you've been on vitex for a few months something will happen. You might find once you take some NPC for a couple of weeks, then stop it, then you may have a withdrawal period. Good luck.
By the way, with the NPC - try going to your GP - you should be able to get it fairly easily from them.
Kathie - I also agree that medications seem to fight against the body. I'm finding it a lot easier to treat my PCOS this time around. When I was TTC #1 I was so desperate to have a baby NOW that I just wasn't patient enough to wait for herbals to work. In hind sight it may have even been quicker than all of the month after month after month of medically induced cycles that I had anyway *sigh*.
