Unhappy Vitex chastree berry and PCOS!

Have PCOS for a very long time, I guess! TTC for 3 1/2 yrs and got pregnant couple of months after the 1st cycle of clomid. Unfortunately miscarried bcos of the very low progesterone level. Didn't get periods(for the past 2 mos) now. Frustrated with the english medicine. Started taking vitex chasteberry (30 drops tincture) 10 days back. Does anyone have experience with the irregular periods issue? Please advice. How long I should take vitex to regualrise my periods? What is the good form to take? Have you ovulated after taking it? Is it advisable to take during periods, ovulation etc.,?Please please advice.

Am also taking:
Flax seed supplement
Omaga 3 Fish oil
Vit. E
Zinc
Prenatal multivitamin
Folic acid

bg3...

hi and welcome to the board!

I too have had very irregular periods... it has been just over a year since I have had one... I also started taking 30 drops of vitex... it's been 4 weeks with me... (you should check in the post "Vitex???" for more information and to see how it is working for others)

From what I understand it takes up to 2-3 months to see results with Vitex as far as AF goes... so be patient.. if you haven't seen any changes in that time... you can try upping the dose or changing brands...

I am seeing some minor changes.. so I know it's working... sometimes we just have to be patient... and I'm trying...

hope this helps... and please check out the other thread... there are 5 great pages of info...

take care!

jacqui

Question Vitex and PCOS!

Thanks so much for your reply. Did you get periods after taking vitex? Am very much exahausted trying everything and now expecting a lot from this vitex :-) Is your periods regularised? Is the tincture form is easliy absorbed or the tablets? Are you mixing the tinctures in water and having it? sorry, it's a silly ?

It's not a silly question... I had plenty of questions myself before starting vitex...

I haven't gotten my period yet... it's only been a month since I've started to take it... there are quite a few people though who have had success with vitex... so I continue to be hopeful...

I take the tincture... I put the drops in about 2 Tbs of apple juice... just to get them down... I can't quite do them in water... I would think the tincture is more readily absorbed... but I don't know for sure... just my guess...

don't hesitate to ask any more questions... I'll try to help with what I can...

take care!

Lightbulb vitex query

Thanks jacqui. Will try to continue that. BTW, yesterday I went for acupuncture and she gave me some chinese herbs. I was kinda hesitating to take that. Anyhow, I took it twice today. She asked me to take it for 3 days. let me see if I get my periods. Often so many question pops up! Will definitely ask you! Thanks anyhow!
