ok..i am really needing some straightforward answers on this..ive been looking for several days now and im very frustrated...
i havent had AF since august...i bought soy isoflavones and vitex...my soy says 40mg and my vitex says 500mg..now from what i've found out..i take the recommended 1 pill of vitex every day until AF shows up...but then i dont know when to switch to soy..and what CDs i should be taking the soy..some people say between CD 3-7..but im not sure..ive been looking on a lot of websites, but none of them tell you when and how much to take..i dont want to do any damage or mess this up...SOOO just to make sure i get this right:
I take the vitex until AF shows up..then on CD 3-7 each day i take the recommended dosage of soy...then after CD 7 i take vitex again until the next CD 3? Can I increase my own dosage as time goes on or if it doesnt seem to be working?
ANY help would be appreciated so much..im so tired of looking and not finding answers and i really just want to start taking these....thanks

Peggy- I would take Vitex first to see if you get AF. If AF shows, I would continue either the recommended dose of Soy on days 3-7 or 5-9 or just continue with the vitex. I personally would not mix the 2 in the same cycle. I take 1200 of Vitex a day if that helps with dosages. Maybe the other ladies will have some ideas.

I just had a couple of questions, I have read through the information posted in the beginning of the thread, but still am a little confused. I would like to being TTC #2 naturally, and would like to use Vitex. I am already using cinnamon (out of the shaker on oatmeal) daily. I am on CD 66, with no signs of AF. I am debating if I should use NPC to bring her on, and take Vitex at the same time, or if I should just try the Vitex and not use the NPC to get AF.
Also, do most of you use the Vitex tincture or the capules, and if so, where do you get them/order them from? Based on what I have read, it seems like the tincture is more potent.
Also, just to make sure, it looks like Vitex is safe to take until Pregnancy is acheived, am I reading that right?
We used injectible medications to get preg with DS, and I would just like to try other options before going back there again.
Thank you all much for your help!
Anna

Peggy- How are things going? Ever think about using NPC to bring on AF?
Just a suggestion i like to keep the ball rolling and waiting for Vitex to regulate things can take a little while.
I also agree with Melissa on the soy dosage.
Anna- You can take Vitex and use NPC at the same time. I use NPC from time to time to bring on AF when i dont feel like waiting and enough time has past..so i think thats a good idea. Ive heard that the Tincture is better than the capsules but i do take the capsules i dont think i could handle the taste yuks! lol
When you do get your BFP i would stop...ive heard some weaning off and Ive even heard some taking it through thier 1st trimester...but the bottle clearly says do not use during pregnancy...so i guess it depends on what you feel comfortable doing or maybe you can discuss with your Dr when that time comes.
Welcome and Good luck Any other questions feel free to ask!

I found this and figured it would be helpful to those of us experimenting with herbs...
Herbs can be used as a gentle, natural way to manage female fertility. Whether you want to regulate your menstrual cycle boost your chances of conceiving, prevent pregnancy or regulate your body during menopause, you can take herbs in the form of pills, teas, and tinctures. Herbal fertility treatments allow a woman to take her reproductive health into her own hands and manage it without synthetic hormones
Relieve the painful cramping that can occur during your menstrual period with Black Cohosh, which is available in capsule, tincture, or dried bulk form. It can also relieve cramping associated with ovulation, and manage hot flashes in menopausal women.
Drink tincture of Vitex (also known as Chasteberry) in water, tea or juice each day to help regulate the menstrual cycle after discontinuation of synthetic hormone birth control. It can also be taken in capsule form.
Take **** Quai to regulate hormones and tone the uterus. **** Quai is often used to regulate the menstrual cycle after taking synthetic hormone birth control, and to prepare the uterus for pregnancy prior to conception. It can also be taken to manage hot flashes in menopausal women.
Increase your chances of conception by taking Evening Primrose Oil from menstruation to ovulation. Evening Primrose Oil helps increase fertile quality cervical fluid, which aids in transporting sperm to the fallopian tubes. After ovulation, switch to Flax Seed Oil, as Evening Primrose Oil can cause uterine contractions that can interfere with implantation in the event of conception.
Take Red Raspberry Leaf throughout your entire cycle to improve the quality of the uterine lining, which helps lengthen the luteal phase (the fertile phase of your cycle). It is available as tea in many health food stores.
Lower your fertility in a gentle, natural, reversible way with Wild Carrot, also known as Queen Anne's Lace. Eat heaping spoonfuls of the aromatic seeds each day to prevent implantation of a fertilized egg.

Peggy - Vitex and Soy - many take Vitex and Soy... you have it right, you can take the Vitex all the way thru the month, only stopping when you are on the Soy. So... CD1 - 2 Vitex, CD 3 - 7 Soy, and Vitex CD 8 - thru end of cycle. There are woman that have taken them both and didn't effect the Soy, but... I choose not to do that. Some, like Melissa would suggest, stick to one or the other.... so it's up to your own preferrence.
Anna - I was going to say... Dana takes Vitex and NPC, and it works for her. I have a link that tells you drug interactions that says, no to estrogen and progesterone.... it's your own preferrence.
I personally have tried my NPC.... no AF. Soy 5 days, and Vitex the rest... no AF. But I was on EPO for 2 - 2 1/2 mo, while taking Vitex, and I heard that contains estrogen like properties... so I am wondering if I am totally screwing up my already poor screwed up body. Lindsay takes EPO, and it doesn't effect her Vitex... I don't know.
My latest, and final idea, switchn' brands of Vitex, adding Don Quai, and now Dana... thinking on the Red Rasberry leaf. Still on Cinnamon, going back to 3 T powder a day.

Peggy- Have you ever tried the extended release version of Met? Regular met made me so sick but the Met ER does not.
