Default Vitex and cramping/pains?

Hey everyone,
Has anyone every gotten cramps or pains after taking Vitex? I usually only have 2-4 periods a year, and 2 of my last 3 periods were brought on using progesterone. I would prefer not to take it and I have been looking at all the natural remedies. I recently (as in a week ago) started taking Vitex. I am hoping it will regulate me and help me ovulate (which I don't think I do). I just finished my period when I started vitex. The past few days I have had mild cramps on and off and today I got a really sharp pain in my side (I'm assuming it was my ovaries) a few times. I rarely ever get cramps with my period and I have never felt a pain like that. I'm hoping it's because things are starting to work down there but I thought it took longer for vitex to work. Thanks girls

Have you had a baseline hormone profile (TSH, androgens, testosterone, prolactin, progerestone, isulin, blood glucose etc...)? I would suggest it to find out which of your hormones are out of balance. It is easier to tailor a regimen if you know what needs fixing. Vitex may help though. It can take many months of faithful Vitex use before changes are noticed. Hang in there!

I've had blood work done, but I was never told the results, just that I had PCOS. I guess I will have to phone and find out if I can get the results!

Ask them to fax you a copy or stop up and fill out a release for a copy. They have to provide them if you want them.

i can't imagine that vitex is causing any problems after taking it for only a week (although, everyone's body is different). i find that my cramps are waaaay less when i'm taking vitex. and as it's been said before, you have to give it time. vitex works to bring things into balance...so the more out of balance you are, the longer it would take.

Thanks for the replies. I've had more cramping the past few days so I'm going to make a doctors appointment just to be sure. I'm thinking it could even be the progesterone I took to induce my period. I am very sensitive to medication, my body just doesn't like the chemical stuff!!
