Default Vitex, Help please!

I have read that Vitex helps women with PCOS ovulate and have more regular cycles. Is this true? I've seen a couple places (and even corresponded with a non-expert) that says it won't help. Does anyone here have anything to tell me about this??

I started taking it a couple days ago but I don't want to continue to take it if it isn't going to do a darn thing. I'm frustrated and running out of options to get me to ovulate!

Well I've been taking it since Oct6'07 and so far I haven't ovulated but have had somewhat regular cycles (47 days, 30 days, and 24 days). I've since added Soy cd4-8 (marked as Clomid on my chart) in hopes of ovulating. There have been many many success stories with Vitex though. What harm could there be in trying for about 6 months, that's my theory. Best wishes!! I know your frustration. ((((Hugs))))

I'd actually heard that taking Soy + Vitex in a cycle causes them to cancel each other out. (Vitex helps normalize hormone levels, Soy [like clomid] elevates them....)

As far as the Vitex helping - I've also ready TONS of success stories, though I'm starting to have some doubts of my own. I'm going to reserve judgment until another cycle or two pass, as I've also read it can take up to 6mo to get the full benefit of the herb. In the meantime, it can't really hurt.

I had done a bit of research here on the board and there were a few ladies who stopped the Vitex during the days they took Soy and it worked. A couple even got bfp's. I figure it can't hurt to try, this is my fourth Vitex cycle and so far no ov. I, like you, want to give it the benefit of the doubt and am trying to stay on it for 6 months too. Best wishes to you!
