Default vitex, next step!!

I started taking Vitex in January of this year. I was feeling amazing seemed like the mood swings were alot better, the depression very slightly if at all, able to deal and cope with life, and not the feeling of pure exhaustion. I would have some cramping like discomfort down low, but no period. In April I had a deep cleaning and my wisdom teeth pulled out. I was on antibiotics for close to a month. I stopped taking the Vitex during this time. I felt some of the symptoms of PCOS reappearing. I have been back on it for a few weeks now. Once again feeling amazing, but no period yet. They are 200mg tablets, when I started taking them again, I was taking two. I wanted to see what happened. Since most of the vitex you see online is about 750mg a tablet.

I am getting close to the last day or two of my pills and am wracking my brain as to, what to do? Do I order the stronger pills online, do I buy another bottle and continue to take 2 at a time, or do I look into other methods because this is clearly not working.

Before it was all about ovulating and baby making. Now I think I have come to the conclusion, being where I am (financially and no doctor) that I would just like to have a period to know that I am not backed up to terribly much.

If u remember from previous posts, I had been without one for about 2.5 years. when I was put on the birth control. Was on for 6 months had a period religiously. Did not like the idea of being on them long term, that was about 1.5 years ago. I wonder if I am not having a period because I have no eggs.. I have bad hot flashes and night sweats. worried I have gone thru menopause... I need answers please help!!!

I would buy a Vitex of at least 400 mg capsules and take one or two a day. I get mine at GNC. I just restarted them yesterday .

What kind of Vitex are you taking? I take Femaprin and it has worked for me. I buy mine at vitacost.com. its the cheapest place I could find. Here is a thread about Femaprin it helped me out alot The Femaprin Thread . I took Fertilaid for a month had to switch to Femaprin for money reasons and started it on 5-20. Got AF on 6-2. I hadnt had AF for 7 months. Alot of women use NPC too. You may want to look into that.

Me? Mine is the regular GNC brand, 500mg capsule. I am going to take 2 a day for about a week to get a good dose in and then go to one a day after that. I have used iot before but stopped because it seemed I was taking SOOO many pills everyday and at that time I was not TTC.

I used to take Nature's Way (bought on vitacost.com as well). I believe they are 400 mg pills and I would take 2 a day.

I would recommend increasing your dose to at least 800 mg. Some women only respond on a higher dose.

I was taking the Femaprin. Went down to Harvest House (our local health food store) today, after talking to several people we have come up with a plan. I am going to stop the femaprin for now. I am going to try dong quai/wild yam for a month and see what happens. She also suggested taking parsley, I am going to do some more research about that before I begin.
They suggested seeing a doctor and getting a hormone test. Sounds like a great idea if I had a doctor and money to do that. I hope this works. Wish me luck..

I strongly believe that Femaprin is the best vitex to take, but, it also depends on how bad your pcos is. For example, I am able to get pregnant on my own without medications. But, unfortunately, I have a luteal phase defect, therefore, my pregnancies always ended up in miscarriage. For me, the femaprin worked well because it contains vitamin B6 which helps correct the luteal phase defect, and I beleive that is what ultimately got me my bfp. I also want to note, that I was on cd60 when I got my bfp. I had been testing before and got bfn. So it takes a while to work.

I took 1200mg a day of vitex because its what my bottle suggested. i took the natures way brand. I think of the smaller dose was working for you no need to up it. BUT if you do want to see if you benefit from a higher dosage..why not! I also dont think you need to order higher mg pills. you can just take an extra pill to make up if you dont want to waste a bottle in case the higher MG is NOT good for you.
I also took Dong Quai and loved it! i took about 1100mg per day. Vitex and Dong Quai was an excellent combo for me. AF arrived more regularly and over all i felt great!

Good luck to you!

I just recently enrolled in Fertility Friend, I want to keep track of my bbt. I am on the Dong Quai right now, u say that you were on the vitex also. such a high dose, did you get your af. I have not had af since december of 07 and that was with bcp. the DQ is giving me the feeling that I have a fever or that I am on fire, I am hoping that is because it is trying to work for me. In addition to what I am doing I am wondering if I should be on a prenatal and/or aspirin regiment. I just don't want them to interfer with the results I may have with the Dong Quai, so I can say I gave it a fair chance to work. any help u can provide me would be much appreciated, being that I am flying by the seat of my pants at this point.

Thank you
