First, no, I am not taking all three of those together and have learned enough that Vitex + Soy is a BIG, huge no-no.
What I'm looking for is a little guidance for ladies who are using herbal treatments, etc.
First a little background:
I'm 26 and currently on 1700mg Metformin, 3000mg Cinnamon and a daily Pre-Natal vitamin. Before starting the Met in September, AF had been missing for 9 months and I'd spent the previous 2 months spotting pretty consistently. After about 1 week on Met I got a full blown AF that lasted about 5 days, lots of painful cramps, etc. I started monitoring my cycle and it *seemed* that my temps, CM and OPK showed that I O'd. All fine and good, except I'm now at CD 53 (I think) and there are no signs of AF. There was some light spotting for three days, but it went away and has yet to come back. I've also taken 4 HPTs in the last 3 weeks and they've all been BFN's. My doctor doesn't want to see me until December or January and will at that point determine if the Met is working or not.
Anyway, I'm not so good at this waiting thing and would REALLY like to get a move on into a new cycle. I know that the Met can take a bit to regulate things and I also know that many women don't see results until they hit 2000mg, but I don't know if the Met alone is going to be the magic bullet for me.
With that frame of mind, I want to explore my herbal options. This is where I run into a problem. What combination should I try?
Vitex + NPC
NPC (to get AF here) + Soy
Here's the reason I'm wondering. When I go back to the doctor and the Met hasn't had the desired effect, I'm wondering if the next step he's going to suggest will be Clomid, as he's already mentioned it in previous appointments. If that's the case, I know I won't be able to take the Vitex, so I'm wondering if it's worth starting it now or not. Could the results I'd see in a month or two be worth it?
Would the NPC alone be enough to get AF started? And even if I do get AF started with the NPC, would the Soy or the Vitex be more beneficial for me at this point? I know they both do different things but I guess I'm trying to figure out which would give me the best chances at successfully TTC.
I'm sorry if this is confusing - but I guess I'm a little confused myself. Right now, while I do want to get my symptoms under control, my main goal is TTC.
So...any advice anyone can offer would be wonderful and greatly appreciated - personal experiences are more than welcomed as well.
Thanks in advance!
