I am thin with PCOS, and am taking a break from the "traditional" fertility treatments for awhile. I have been reading about Vitex. However, it says it will raise your LH level. Us (with PCOS) already have high LH levels; I thought we want to LOWER our LH level in order to ovulate. I just don't understand how Vitex can possibly work for PCOS?

Has anyone had any success with Vitex? How much do you take & how often? Also, do you take anything else as well?

Hi!

I tried Vitex for just over two months. I started taking it to bring on af and it worked. Two days after I started taking it I got af and it was stronger and lasted longer than usual for me. For the two full cycles I took it I did ovulate (cd16 and cd13) but I found it shortened my luteal phase. My lp is usually 13 days long and on Vitex it was 10/11 days with spotting starting at 8/9 dpo. So I stopped taking it. I was only taking until ovulation was confirmed so perhaps I should have continued taking it until I got a bfp..... The other reason I stopped taking it was because the third cycle I was having my lap done. HTH.
