Almost every site I read said to stop it, but no one had a reason why. There is no indication it hurts a pg. I stopped it when I got pg, and then m/c and wondered if I should have stayed on it. I started it again, got pg this time, and went off again, wondering if I should have stayed on it. So far so good though, and so I guess time will tell.

I haven't read any reasons why you shouldn't take it, but everything I've read says that you shouldn't take it while pg.
Would you mind posting the sites that said to take it during pg?? I'm curious......

My Mood: Points: 2,319.59 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,319.59 | I guess I misunderstood the websites that I found. A lot of them say that Vitex prevents m/c - so I just assumed that you would take it while pregnant. None of them say to take it when pg though. I guess I will keep taking it and then try the progeterone cream. I'm just worried that if I take something for the first trimester - to keep my beta rising - what's to say when I stop taking it that my levels will fall after the first trimester, ending in another m/c. It's so scary!!!! Hopefully my new OB doc can help to ease my mind a little. The last one could care less about my m/c's so I'm switching docs. |

When I researched, I think I found 2 sites where people were told to take it throughout 1st tri. I seriously contemplated it this pg, but again, not enough support for it.

In my opinion, if a baby isn't going to make it past the first trimester, there's nothing you can do, take or anything like that that will prevent the baby from m/c'ing. And I really hope I'm not sounding insensitive. My whole first trimester, I was worried about m/c'ing, but knew that if this baby wasn't meant to make it into my arms, there was nothing my dr. or I could do that would prevent God from taking my baby home.
So, all that being said, Vitex won't increase your hCG levels - that's the baby's job.
There are things that you can do that might help prevent a m/c (like progesterone), but progesterone is only going to increase your progesterone levels, not your hCG levels.

I am still learning about the science of pregnancy, and trying to figure out what went wrong the past couple times. My OB (Who I'm switching from) - didn't really explain anything to me so I'm learning this stuff on my own. |

My Mood: Points: 14,963.42 Bank: 5,498,940.04 Total Points: 5,513,903.46 | I had the same problem whe I was TTC. I was trying to figure out how NPC would be able to help - like how would your body know if it got pg or not. It's all very confusing stuff. It's funny because my mom, who's been a nurse for nearly 30 years, knows less about pregnancy and trying to get pregnant than I do. And I only started researching it when we started TTC less than 2 years ago. It's amazing the things that you can learn in a short period of time if you really want to know the answer - you just need to search for it sometimes.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask away!!
