Default Vitex question and help me relieve my anxiety of this progesterone issue please!

Hi all,

OK - we're not "trying" per se right now, but we haven't been careful.

Long story short, we (S/O and myself) a little while ago and we had stopped trying.

I stopped going to the fertility clinic and we were using withdrawal... except for some reason, this month.

I've had 3 miscarriages and am getting anxiety right now because I just had a positive OPK and well, if you look at my chart, it could be favorable for a pregnancy.

I'm worried about progesterone though.

When i was with the clinic, they had me on prometrium at "O" time and that's one thing they said i really needed.

What can anyone tell me about Vitex other than sending me a link to some site, or telling me that it takes about 3 months to work?

Where I am, I have no access to progesterone creams and the only thing I have is a half empty bottle of leftover prometrium (wouldn't last me as long as i'd need it) and this bottle of vitex.

Why don't i go back to the fertility clinic, you may ask?

Because I'm so nervous to even tell my S/O that i had a positive OPK - he's not ready to try again and well, i know, what you're also going to say .. then why did we do the deed or not use protection?

I know ALL abou that..

My questions though, are related to the vitex, will it provide a short term solution? any other suggestions?

I'm in Canada and a little scared

Hi hun!

If I were you I would try and get some B6. I know that its suppose to help with prog issues. Also, I dont see the harm in at least starting the vitex and keeping fingers crossed. I guess its better then nothing. Also, you can buy the prog cream over the Internet as well. I wish I could give more info but that just what I would do. GL

You can't make Vitex work any faster than it works. Go ahead and take it, but if you can get some cream, go for it.

Smile Vitex to treat PCOS?

Hi everyone,

I hope this isn't too off-topic, but I have a question about Vitex to treat PCOS in general. I've been taking Chasteberry (Vitex) for a couple of years to help regulate my periods and ease PMS symptoms. But I've read that Vitex has estrogenic effects, the opposite of the hormonal effects of saw palmetto, which many use to ease PCOS symptoms. So I'm wondering, is Vitex okay to take if you have PCOS, or will it flare up symptoms, like some BCP, because of its estrogenic effects? If that's the case, then I plan to stop taking it. If anyone has had positive/negative experiences with Vitex for PCOS, please let me know.

Thanks!

This is my experience: MY HAIR IS FALLING OFF after only 2 months taking it. My Af has regulated but my hair is falling by clumps everytime i wash it. My scalp and face are full of oil in half a day. I have been taking 500 mg of Vitex daily. I'm gonna stop for 15 days only to see what happens. I read in a site Vitex is taken by bodybuilders to raise testosterone level previous of competitions instead of taking harmful anabolics. Maybe the vitex took my estrogen waaayyyy down (like in menopause...?). Gotta wait and see.....
