Question Vitex-question for those who have used it

I have always had very irregular cycles and can go months without one. I was prescribed Provera for 10 days every 6-8 weeks to bring on AF. I did that for 3 cycles and hated how I felt on it, so I decided to try the more natural route and began with Vitex. It has been 6 weeks since last AF (and beginning the Vitex) and I have been getting cramps like I would normally get w/AF and I have had a very light flow but the flow has been very dark in color and by no means as heavy as normal AF. Is it possible that the Vitex is just beginning to work and this is in fact AF or is this something that I should be concerned about? Does Vitex work that quickly? Sorry if TMI but any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I am currently taking 500mg a day. It is the capsule form. I have been taking it almost every day for the last 6 weeks although I have missed a couple of days here and there. My DH and I have not been actively TTC just yet but are planning to. We both want to see if my cycle can become somewhat regulated to increase our chances. I have talked to my doc about a more natural approach and I am scheduled to follow up with him tomorrow to discuss my options. I ventured out on my own with the Vitex after reading about it here. I am somewhat confused about this whole flow thing though. I am hoping it is a sign that the Vitex is working for me.
