Hello ladies! I've been taking 800mg of Vitex for 34 days now and am wondering about side effects it may cause. In the beginning I had about 10 days of really sore boobs but that eventually passed. Now I've been experiencing being really tired, overly emotional and constipation. The only other time in my life I've had issues with constipation was when I was pg with dd and shortly after her birth. I actually suffer from ibs and take 2000mg of Metformin so this is very strange for me! FF is saying I ovulated on cd9 and I have done 4 hpt's (3 of which were dollar store hpt's and one that was FRER, took that one first if it makes any difference at all) and all were bfn. I only have one temp below my coverline post ov and only one temp above the coverline pre ov. Here is the link http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/4d4c4 I'm very very confused! My gut tells me I'm not pregnant and I'm considering increasing my Vitex dose on Monday to 1200mg. Any thoughts?? Are some of these s/e 'normal'?

I was getting ready to start a thread on side effects too! I have only been taking Vitex (800mg) since Tuesday, but I have no energy and a headache that is present from the time I open my eyes in the morning until I go to sleep at night. I'm also having trouble getting to sleep and my mind is racing within 1-2 hrs of taking the Vitex. I'm thinking about reducing my dosage to 400mg until I get used to this...I don't know how long I can put up with these headaches!
I've been trying to do some research, but it seems like side effects to Vitex are very rare. If I find anything I'll be sure to share it.  |

I haven't noticed any side effects from Vitex (one 500 mg capsule daily). The only thing was a headache for the first two days I started taking it. That went away and I haven't noticed any problems since. Well.... I have been a little "friskier"...LOL  | |

I have noticed the headache from the time I wake till I go to sleep, I think I am going down to 400mg a day until get used to it too. That is about it, I been sleeping good too I take them right before I go to bed.

hmmm...maybe I have side effects too??
I've had a massive migrane the past 2 days. I thought it was unrelated..maybe even detox from going off sugar, but I started vitex (3 tablets a day) about a week ago now.
????

I am almost 100% positive it was the Vitex causing my headaches. I took my last dose last Thursday morning, and when I woke up Friday morning my headache was gone. I didn't have one all weekend either. It also made my skin break out.

I wouldnt give up on vitex in the first week ladies. It might take a bit for the vitex to properly integrate into your system.. maybe that's why you've been having headaches and such. Have you tried taking it at nighttime before you go to bed? Maybe that could help
As for me I always take my Vitex at around 2pm and I havent had any side effects at all, no headaches nothing

I have been taking a vitex based tonic made by my naturopath for about 10 weeks now (also using Omega 3& 6 oil caps). I got 2 weeks of spotting about 2 weeks after I started taking it (Vitex, peonie silybum mix). I then dropped my does slightly (7.5ml to 5ml daily). 30 days after spotting finished I got AF for the first time in 12 months without the help of Provera or fertility drugs. I am now using Metformin as well, but i only started this the day after Af visited. Im feeling really positive and think maybe a does adjustment and some expert advise might be all that is needed to get any side effects under control. I am currently TTC so its huge for me to try and regulate my cycle (just get any sort of cycle)
