Question Vitex, Worked for you or not?

I just started taking Vitex last Friday and I am just wondering how long it will take to see if it works for me. I do not have AF unless I have provera and I have not had AF since my chemical preg last June. I tried two cycles of injections then my insurance company decided cover anything else since a achieved a so-called pregnancy (can you believe it?) Anyways, before I continue anymore injections I want to see if Vitex will work for me. Is there anyone out there that tried Vitex and it didn't work for them??? Any success stories? Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I tried Vitex and it did not work for me.

B U T . . .

I have since learned that the thing with herbs, or any holistic treatment (or even conventional) for that matter is that it may take quite a long time to get the desired effect.
I took Vitex in pill form for about a month, and then gave up.
I have since started Oing on my own, regularly, as a result of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and low-carbing. I also threw in a pinch of Yoga and a dab of faith, and the most important ingredient is perseverence (although, I've probably misspelled it). It took me 6 months to see results. But that is personal. Some ladies posed that it took longer, and some posted about less time. Give your body time to heal and reestablish normal working patterns.

HTH,
Oshrat

It didn't take my body as long to respond as some. The next cycle that I had after starting on Vitex was perfect - ovulation on cd 15 and my luteal phase went from 11 to 14 days for this one! (I also had a biochemical pregnancy on that cycle). My current cycle has been a little off because last month I went on vacation and we all know what kinds of food you can eat...

I'm still taking Vitex (1 400mg cap 2xday) and continue to feel better, I'll let you know how my next cycle goes.

Good luck,
Elizabeth

Mine isnt a success story yet but I can feel its working somewhat. Today is my fifth day on it, 400mgs capsules 2 times a day "Nature's Way", After four doses (two days) my bbt shot up to normal. I was 96.1-96.6, and now I am 97.7- 97.9. My boobs are sore so I can feel the progesterone, I have had a slight headache here and there and since yesterday I have had cramping around my ovary area.

From what I have read alot of women do not feel this, this quickly. I visit another message board and I can list at least 15 ladies who have had success with it. Some have taken as long as a year. If you dont see any improvement after 3 to 4 months you might think about adding false unicorn root, it is a tonic (liquid or powder that can be turned into a tea) that works specifically on the ovaries), it is hard to find on the shelves at health food stores but they can order it for you.

Good Luck

The pill form didn't work for me, but the liquid did. I had a natural period for the first time in years, and this cycle I am going to af soon (high temps, sore bbs) and I'm on day 35. I'm not sure if I o'd (my temps gradually went up, not spiked, and not a lot of ewcm), but something is definitely going on! I'm most definitely a vitex convert!

Vitex didn't work for me, I took it for about 3-4 months....

But I just ovulated for the first time in a very long time as a result of TCM! I was also exercising and doing Insulin resistance diet.

I haven't been taking Vitex. I was waiting to see if I had any reactions to Saw Palmetto first, but I should start taking it.

I wanted to add that the Vitex that comes in capsules is usually very poor quality. It's usually the bottom of the barrel stuff that was left over, that powders easily. There is very little healing power left in them. The herbs th ey use for the tincture are usually stronger, and because it's a tincture, is by it's very nature more concentrated. It's best to choose a tincture if you have a choice.

Talking It worked, it worked!

I started taking vitex after devolping a new cyst in my last clomid cycle. I thought I had nothing to lose by trying herbs. I took the capsules for 7 days and had a very light af. I used all of my capsules and started using the the tincture. I used the natures way brand taking it by the directions initially, then increasing it when I saw that I was handling it well. I was taking 3 capusules 2x a day before I started on the tincture.
I o'd on cd17 for the first time in months, had great ewcm and I am nearing the end of my 2ww.

Hi Terri!

Tincture is the extracted liquid version of the herb.

Hi everyone,

I hope someone can answer this for me, I just finished my AF induced by provera, (9/28/02) I wanted to know when should I take the Vitex. My next cycle should be 10/20/02.

Thanks
