Smile The wacky routine that is working for me

OK, a bit of history...

I had pretty spotty skin until I started Met 6 years ago, then it became much clearer, but not perfect by any means. Then when I went on Clomid over a year ago, I started breaking out again. When I go pregnant in November, the breakouts got worse and after my m/c in January, I couldn't even leave the house. My hormones were so out of whack and I had pimples all around my mouth and chin, lots of redness, and severe oiliness. Of course, I scrubbed and scrubbed and used really harsh products and things only got worse...until...

I started washing 2x a day with oil...yes, I said OIL! I use jojoba, but have heard good things about a mixture of extra virgin olive oil and castor oil, too. I massage it onto dry skin for a couple of minutes, then apply a hot, wet washcloth, GENTLY wiping the oil away. I have to do the washcloth part a couple of times to get all the oil. Then at night I apply benzoyl peroxide all over (in the daytime it's a little too drying). A couple of times a week I make a mask of uncoated aspirin, hot water, and honey - leave it on until dry then gently scrub and rinse.

This is the best skin of my adult life. I have no pimples, my pores look half their size, blackheads have disappeared, my skin is soft and supple, and I have a "glow" that I never had. In fact, I don't even wear foundation anymore, and sometimes am able to go without blush because I have such healthy color! I know that it seems weird that oil would work, but I think I was stripping my skin and it responded by producing more oil. Now that I am adding the oil, my skin is balanced and just looks beautiful. After feeling so ugly for so many years, I feel like I have a new life. I hope this helps someone.

P.S. - I've been drinking LOTS of water because of my OHSS, so that has probably helped, too.

I did just read on another board that oil can combat oily skin. Maybe there's something to it. I have read about camilla oil and jojoba. It is a hard thing to think about when you do have oily skin and the derm says nothing with oil in it but I would try jojoba sometime because a lot of people do use it.
