Default Waiting to explode

I started 500mg/day of metformin on Monday, and have thus far not had any diarrhea, only nausea. I was planning to wait for my body to adjust to this level a bit before increasing, but I'm wondering: If I was going to get explosive diarrhea, would it have happened by now, or is it something that hits on day 5 or 6? If I've passed the 500mg test, I could go to 1000 tomorrow, but I hate to make an impending problem worse.

TIA!

Hi! Often the side effects increase as the dose increases, but since you have just begun, it's still really to early to say if you'll react 'explosively'() to this dose or not. For me it was 10 days or so before I got the full effect, but it probably varies from person to person.

I wouldn't think that your current dose has had a chance to reach a steady state in your body yet, and knowing what I know about Met now, I'd wait the until I'd have taken the 500 dose for a full week or 10 days before increasing again. That way you can really give your body a gradual increase of the drug. But if you feel brave and want to try it early, hopefully it will go well for you.

Good Luck!

Increasing early went well for me. I started out on 850 and within a week was on my current 1700. But as Christy said, everyone is different and you may not do as well so it is probably better to wait. Good luck!

God bless,

Lisa

I've done Clomid, femara, and injections. Nothing seems to help.
