I took Provera for 10 days. No problems. I have been kinda moody and feel like I'm getting my period. I have had no bleeding and it's been 3 days since I've taken my last pill. When shall I worry? I'm so frustrated, yet hope this works. Any advice?
Now it's been 5 days since the last pill. I tried calling my Dr. today, but it was after hours. I started taking this stuff so I would know when I get my period. Now what? I'm still so frustrated! I'm doing everything I should and.....ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
My doctor told me it could take 5-7 days to show up. Once it came on day 10 and the last time it came 1 day after the last pill. If it doesn't come by day 14 take an hpt and then call the doc.

I just took ten days of Provera and am on my fourth day of waiting for AF. Today, I have increased cm, egg white. Is this normal? Has this happened to anyone before AF came after Provera?
What is eggwhite cm? After seeing it mentioned in a couple of posts I am curious. I too am finishing my first round of Provera, wondering what to look for when I am waiting on my period to arrive.
There is a post with a list of abbrieviation explainations.
eggwhite cm - as far as I can recall - cm is cervical mucus.
But I could be wrong.
I have just literally posted a query about PROVERA stopping a period when I had been prescribed it to start a period.
I should have read on as my query was when should I expect the period to kick in........
So I finished yesterday so if in 2 wks nothing happens I'll start worrying then!!
I'm curious...did you actually get your AF? When you last posted, you were questioning whether or not you actually got it? How light was it? The same thing happened to me about a year ago. About 5 days after my last Provera pilll, I started bleeding and I expected to get a full-blown AF since it had been months since my last one, but it came and went in just one day. And it was so light...seemed like I was just spotting. So I gave it a couple more days, thinking AF would show up for real, but nothing. So, although it didn't seem like a period, it was one. I've since had heavier periods. I guess it can vary sometimes...I'll take whatever I can get (as long AF doesn't last longer than 10 days, that's just insane!)
OKay,
I never, NEVER get my period naturally (not for the past 4 years at least) so every 3 months I go on provera - I am beginning to feel like the provera expert here. This might answer some question:
- After you stop taking provera (on day 10) it will take up to 2 weeks to get AF - this is within normal guidelines and what my doctor ALWAYS reminds me so I won't panick
- SPOTTING, or barely there periods ARE NOT NORMAL when you take provera - this past month this has happened to me and it has been the first time - my doctor requested that I call him and re schedule a follow up appt. if I got spotting or no period. I will now have to go back to see him (go this coming Tuesday) and I will probably have to find out why I only spotted. Spotting after taking provera (just that brown yieeky stuff) is a sign that things are not quite right
- you will get eggwhite Cervical Mucus (cv) before AF. Provera will force and simulate a Natural cycle including the egg white cv because that is what naturally would happen to your body before you get a period. Provera is merely forcing a period
Hope this helps, and please call your doctor back if you were on provera and you did not get a period after 2 weeks or simply spotted for a couple of days (I spotted for only 3 days and it was barely there... like a ghost).
AFTER THIS LAST REPLY, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY. I GUESS THAT I GOT MY AF. IT NEVER BECAME FULL BLOWN, BUT IT DID LAST FOR ABOUT 5 DAYS OR SO. I HAVE JUST TAKEN MY LAST PROVERA FOR THIS MONTH, SO THE WAITING BEGINS. I HAVE HAD BAD CRAMPS TODAY, THOUGH. THIS IS NEW! I CAN'T SAY THAT I LIKE IT, THOUGH. I WILL CALL MY DR. ABOUT THE "GHOST" AF TO SEE WHAT SHE SAYS ABOUT ALL THAT. IN THE MEANTIME, I HOPE THAT LAST MONTH'S AF DID NOT MEAN THAT I HAVE SOMETHING HORRIBLY WRONG WITH ME . WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK ABOUT THE LAST REPLY?
Sorry,
I didn't mean to scare you... please don't think there is something terribly wrong. My doctor was very specific, he told me to wait 2 weeks after the last day on provera, then told me to make sure I got a period, and if I just spotted or no period at all, then I should go back for a check up.
After being induced, you should get a period, but please be aware that every person is different. If you already have a sparse period to begin with, that may have something to do with it. Also, it seems to me that you did got a period... you said that it lasted about 5 days. Well, let me tell you that I am not exagerating when I tell you mine was barely there, and that I only say it lasted 3 days because if I didn't wear a pad, I would get my panties stained, but that a pad was almost not necessary.
Another thing I should have told you (I already told you it has been 4 years since my last normal AF visit) is that my doctor suspects endometriosis (I've already had 2 D&Cs performed), so the lack of a period even after induction might suggest that may be the case. So that is mainly why I am going back for a check up.
If you have had regular check ups, and everything has always come back normal, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Still, just a precaution, if you are not quite sure what you had really constitutes a period (and only you know that), then let your doctor know and go from there.
Please don't be scared, I did not mean for that to happen, I was just trying to make you aware that if you didn't get a period, you should let your doctor know.
I forgot to mention that the reason the dr will also sometimes ask you to come if after taking provera and no period, is because you may be pregnant. It has been known to happen.
Since I am married and ttc, I always stop any "matrimonial dancing" at least 1 week in advance, and take a hpt before starting provera, so I know I was not pregnant. Better to be safe.
