Well, its a for sure thing....despite my injuries, I will be participating in this year's Walkamerica. 9 miles....oooo weee! I am actually a little excited.
I had become a little upset with myself because just 2 weeks ago, I convinced myself that maybe I'll just participate next year. The thought of failing my son was really taking its toll on me. Then while driving to work, I saw the billboards for this years walk. In that moment, I felt like its never too late. So this past Monday....6 days before the walk, I revived "Team Matthew Illyas"...my hubby is very excited that i had a change of heart and this year a bunch of my relatives will try to do the walk with me. (last year, me and dh argued the first 3 miles....because he would not leave me behind! LOL...i am a bit of a slow walker.)
a little inspiration....a small sense of purpose. Ladies, I am asking for your prayers for a successful and injury-free walk. I know this one is gonna hurt months after the fact!!
Thanks for reading!!

PM me about my Grandma's newly published Gluten Free Cookbook!
I have never done WalkAmerica but, I did the AVON 3Day 60 mile walk for breast cancer in honor of my grandmother. I was amazing. Every time I wanted to stop I thought about all the people who wished they could be out there walking but physically couldn't. I kept telling myself the pain I felt was nothing compared to the pain of the people I was walking for. It kept me going.
When you get tired just look up at the sky towards the sun, and just imagine that bright shining sun is powered by the smiles of ALL of our babies. Let that be your cheering section. No matter how tired you get or how slow you walk they will be there just for you.
Diana, thank you so much for doing this walk. For all of our babies.

When is the walk? Is this a local thing, or is it national? I would love to do something like this

Diana, I am so proud of you! We'll be the walking wounded together - I'll still be pregnant when we walk on Sunday, unless some miracle happens (get out of Mommy, already)!
We only have to do 5 miles, though, and I've been told they'll have vans on hand to take me to the finish line if I can't make it.
Thank you all!! Such inspiration will carry me through!! Last year I was walking so slow. They had an ambulence following the end of the line....they kept me going...although towards the end, I felt like asking for lift!! lol But today is a bad day for the foot...it really hurts big time....i'm walking like Frankenstein! LOL
Thanks Meghan for wanting to donate. I am doing okay with the fundraising...$160 so far. More of my family will be donating on friday. I just really need your prayers!!! I will be going to work the next day and i already know i am gonna be in pain and cranky! LOL But if you would like to look at my site.... www.walkamerica.com/dianaillyas
Hey Viv, maybe the walk will get something started!! Don't over do it...you will need your strength and energy to push out that baby!!
Okay girlies...time for bed!!! Chat with ya later!

Sweetie, rent a wheelchair! You can push it half of the time and then get pushed by someone else if you need it. Your son wouldn't want you to hurt yourself. Our walk is a very minimal physical event and also has a short route for people who have reasons to get it over with quick. The spirit of your effort and of course your fundraising would be the same, no matter how you accomplished this. I'm proud of you!!

Well Ladies, I am alive and well....in a lot of pain, but doing ok. I had a bit of a setback during the walk, which left me in tears as I turned back to the start point after the first 1.25 miles. It was raining so hard and the wind was fierce. I was completely soaked, sliding around in my shoes, and then I felt that "tearing/burning" feeling in my heal. I hobbled on until i realized that I would need to have the strength to hobble back. I sent DH on his way...and he went the full 9 miles. With tears in my eyes, i returned back to my starting point.
So all in all I calculated that i must have walked about 2.50 miles. My DH did the whole 9 miles, and I am so proud of him. I had tears in my eyes when I saw him coming towards me.
Thank you all for your support! I really appreciate it. my thoughts were of Matthew and all of my soulcysters and your little angels as I did my walk. There's always next year!!
