I don't know if any of you remember an earlier post of mine because I had to go in for a repeat pap, the doctor did something that I always forget the name, but they take a biopsy of your cervix. It was just some abnormal cells.
I just had another repeat pap today with a different doctor in another state to make sure that cancer isn't developing. I am so nervous. I almost didn't go, but that would just be stupid, so I may need to come on here when I start thinking about it and get panic attacks |

Think possitive!!

It was soooo scary but turned out great. My doc said that mine was just from a common infection that created some abnormal cells. The rest of my paps have been fine but the hardest part is the waiting!
Its good to go and get it over with that way u will never have to say "what if".
Good luck!!

My Mood: Points: 8,426.71 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 8,426.71 | I have had the same thing back when I was 21 (I'm 32 now). They found abnormal cells (they called them pre-cancerous, so of course I went off the deep end with worry). I had them removed via colposcopy and laser. Turns out it was caused by *ahem*, the common wart virus. Most abnormal cervical cells are cause by this. It is called HPV - human papilloma virus. I have had normal paps since then except for 2 years ago where I was told it was abnormal again, so I went for a repeat pap 3 months later and it was normal again. My doctor told me that sometimes a minor infection can cause an "abnormal" result. The other piece of info she gave me was that cervical cancer generally grows very slowly. It takes years to go from "abnormal" to cancerous. Even if it does end up being cancerous, it is very treatable, with an excellent success rate. My doctor said women that go for their yearly paps should not worry because any problems would be detected early.
I'm not trying to freak you out by saying the "C" word, just letting you know what I learned - which I swear, made me feel so much better. Hang in sweetie, and make sure to go back for your next scheduled pap.

Lilred cat - that's pretty much what I found out, too. I already had the 'C' word in my head, but when I looked up online exactly what the nurse said I had, I felt much better. In fact, HPV is the only thing that causes cervical cancer! Good news that they have the vaccine now or soon |

I had several biopsies and a surgery called a cone biopsy....5 years later and I have been completely okay since... all normal... I am now pg and ob says I have healed completely from the surgery and she couldn't even tell. So even if it is the "C" word...it is very treatable and curable. Good Luck.
