Points: 242.00 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 242.00 | Want to beat PCOS but... I really want to beat PCOS...
2 years ago, I started doing research on my own after doctors never listening to me that there was something wrong...
This summer I finally was told by a doc that I have PCOS... she put me on Met... and well... my body HATED it... called her back and told her and she didn't believe me... she is also the only endo doc in my area... but I spent from July till Sept getting tested by my family doc and a GI doc because my endo doc didn't believe me that the Met was causing horrible side pains... which I quit taking after 2 weeks because of the pain...
After all the tests, everything is fine... but my PCOS and my weight problem... but I knew that before all of this lol..
But, I see the endo doc on Dec 3rd... I am seeing a nurtristionist and things there are ok... kind of hard to eat 6 times a day but that is a different story... but, i would love to go into the endo doc with a list of things to try...
the only things that I am allergic to is meds... and they are all main stream drugs... the stuff that all docs give ya... so that is why I want a list... plus I would love to know which low carb diets you are trying and anything else that has made your successful at beating PCOS...
I'm 30 and one day would love to have kids... so, I need hope...
Thanks!

There are alternatives to Met. I can't remember their names, but check the "other medication" forum for more information.
I was doing the IR diet with some success and had pretty much removed sugar from my diet.
I think that I have an allergy/intollerance to wheat (breads, pastas, etc) so I am taking that out of my diet to see if it makes a difference - I'm also taking out potatoes. |

If you go to the Diet & Exercise forum there are stickies at the top that will go into the details of each low/moderate carb diet.
I think one of the met alternates is Avandia - I know it start with "A" anyway. Maybe try posting a question about met alternates in the "Other Medications" forum. I personally don't take any of those meds because of my liver.

I've been told that, if you need the medicine bad enough your doctor will work to find a medicine or medicines that do the same job, without the reactions......
