Default Want to share my story

Well, in my mind I have the worst case of pcos ever. At age 13 instead of getting a period, I began to grow facial hair. This is when I was diagnosed. I am now 33, an awful long time to deal with this thing. I got my first AF at age 16 only after taking BC pills. The weight gain and mood swings are still a problem and my facial hair is more than just a nuisance, I grow a full beard and mustache, having to shave daily or every other day. Talk about embarassing. My Husband of 9 years seems to understand, but I still have esteem issues. I have not had a period in 5 years, even after several attempts by my gyn to get it started using progesterone and estrogen. I even made my reproductive endocrinologist puzzled. In Nov I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Its just one thing after another. I just don't know what else to do. I think the hopes of ever conceiving are all lost. I am glad I found this website. I need support and I need it bad cysters.

One thing I think is important to remember is that there are people that love and support you (like your husband). Hopefully you can find support and encouragement here on the message boards. I think I've felt better just reading that there are other people that are going through the same thing.

Have you ever thought of doing something to remove the hair permanently? They can do that now, right?

I think that is wonderful advice; remember where your strength and support comes from! It is a blessing to have a spouse that understands. That may not seem like much, but it can be everything. I'm sorry for you, and hope things begin to look up, and you find peace with your situation.

Wink Pregnancy

I have had pcos for many years 8 years ago i was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 20 yrs ago i was diagnosed with having a bipolar disorder. I was taking bc pills and got pregnant with my daughter who is 27 yo. She in turn also got pregnant with my grandson who is now 9 yo. My daughter and I suffer from the same things. Unfortunately I passed my bad dna onto her. We joke about that. We both suffer from mood swings and sometimes we have no control over it. There are days when I hate the world. I have been on metformin since being dx w/diabetes. I also take cymbalta for the bi polar disorder. I also have problems sleeping at night because of the bipolar disorder. I have learned to live with this. When I have my mood swings I stay away from people so I dont last out at them for no reason. Does anyone else have these issues

SVD - I feel for you so much. I think Aleixa put it best. I cannot say I have been struggling with this as long as or to the intensity at which you have, but I can say that there are two things that have kept me from being completely overwhelmed by this: The love and support of my family and friends (even though they don't understand most of it). Cling to those who love you.

Lately, this community (SC) has been a great addition for me at a time when I was starting to lose hope of living a 'normal' life. Just to read what others have been through; that someone else is struggling with the same things as you or I and to hear how they are working against it is a huge encouragement to me.

Hang in there and good luck.
