My DD is 4 1/2 months old, but I still haven't had AF. I have had very low milk supply all along, so I am surprised by this, but still no AF. I have tried several types of BC (condoms, foam and gel) and hate them all and really want to go back to BCP. I am sure my milk is going to dry up really soon anyways. Anywhoo...will I be able to start BCP even though I haven't had AF? I just don't know what to do anymore!!!
Anytime, they've started me on BCP AF was nowhere to be seen, so I don't think it would be a problem. They always just tell me to use a back up method for the first month. Congratulations on the cutie!

Hi Ruth. My DS is 2 months...I am using NuvaRing (almost the same as BCP) and you just start it whenever. Same with the pill...just remember...you still need back up contraception for the first month. Congrats on your adorable little girl!

I think they prefer it usually if you start on the first day of your period so as to make sure that a) you're not pregnant, and b) you can take bcp in sync with your natural cycle, so as to avoid any PMT pains etc form delaying periods.
When I was diagnosed with PCOS, I took provera to induce a bleed as I hadn't had one for about 6 month, then a week later I was put on Dianette, so for us, I don't think it matters so much!
Thanks ladies. I will go ahead and get a HPT just to make sure even though I am positive it will be BFN. I am going to call my OB today. I hadn't planned on going back on BCP, but with nothing working there isn't much choice.
Thank you for your kind words about DD. We are so blessed to actually have a child!
