St. John's Wart is a Godsend to me!! I will honestly tell you that aside from taking drugs....this has helped me. I stopped taking it several months ago...and due to my hypothyroid and type II diabetes being off again, I've been almost severly depressed......I just started taking it again and its relaxed the anxiety and the depression has helped a great deal.
I've also taken it with Gink Biloba ........which is also complimentary with st. Johns wart....although I wouldn't recommend taking it at night or you'll be up.lol It tended to keep me up at night alot.
I was just on my way to asking about St. Johns wart and noticed your post and had to tell you that I totally love it! Maybe others will have links to sites that explain more.

I know this may sound a little over-dramatic, but St John's Wort really did save my life. I have severe anxiety and panic disorder and this interfered with my life so much that I sank into quite a serious depression. After 6 weeks on SJW I felt so much better although it didn't help the anxiety much, just the depression and has made life a lot easier to cope with. Also, since I've been on it, I haven't had insomnia at all, and I've been plagued with insomnia all my life.
Do you take Ginko Biloba With it?? I see a huge difference with SJW as well! and let me tell you...lately I'm not sleeping at all......I'm a bit nervous because I have hypothyroid....and type II diabetes...everything is out of whack and my origional ENDO left for Cincin. OH and I'm stuck with the dr. at His office.....had an inncident where I thought I had lymphoma cancer....but I wasn't sure if it was thyroid issues....wanted him to check me out first.....he would only talk to me via phone and had me describe on the phone........MY OTHER DR. would have flipped at him! I loved my old dr.! So now I'm stuck figuring this all out on my own....and looking for another ENdo...However I'm seriousely thinking of an ND...but don't know enough about them to make the choice....nor do I think I have enough to finance the cost because their not covered under insurances. UGH!
Thanks ladies for responding!! It's amazing...its hard to get anyone to respond anymore....I basically only go to two forums anymore, because nobody responds to posts.

Hi There,
I Also Suffer With Panic Disorder/anxiety But Not Depression (surpose Im Lucky There)
I Have Tried St Johns Wort And Found It Really Did Not Help For The Anxiety But Lifted My Mood Slightly.
Everyone Is Different Though.
Vitamin B Complex Helps Capsules. I Also Use Rescue Remedy Spray When Im Really Panicky, And The Best Of All Treatments Is Reflexology Its Fantastic Worth Giving It A Go
Good Luck
Leanne
Be careful about St. John's Wort, I heard it decreses effectivity of birth control pills, so I don't know what other meds it could interact with...

Basically, what is the proper dosage for SJW? And how many ladies take this with their Metformin? Any tummy troubles?
Sorry for the questions, my friend suggested it and I am just looking for some information.
Thanks

i did not respond much on st. john's wort, but i was later dx'ed bipolar, so that is understandable.
for me, i found valerian root to be a godsend for insomnia and anxiety. 1-2 capsules when anxious or 2-3 at bedtime... sends you right off into a calm state. you feel sleepy but not drugged and no hangover feeling from it. you can also use the dried root in a tea. (use sparingly though- i overdid it and slept for hours!)
