Exclamation WARNING about Caffeine with PCOS and Endo

just my warning!
After not consuming any caffeine for over 3 months, I introduced it back into my diet about a month ago, after my last AF.
This month's AF is from HELL! I have no doubt in my mind that the caffeine has caused this. FIrst I got the headaches when reintroducing it back, they went away as I kept drinking Starbuck's or the coffee cart at school, then this AF, the cramps, the headache, and the endo between my bowel and vary is being a monster.
Having endo, I am supposed to avoid the caffeine. Imo, it just isn't good for PCOS'ers either.
The only way I have learned to believe in this is the proof of how I feel physically and how it affected AF.
Does anyone get what I'm saying?
And tell me....how the heck am I supposed to stay away from Starbuck's!
LOL
*drool* White Choco Mocha Expresso, percent, no whip please OMG *drool*

I read in the book Fertility Foods that coffee is not good for you when your are TCC, but caffeine from tea is fine. All things that are good, it seems are on the don't eat list for women with PCOS. Do you drink Chi tea? I have made that my alternative to the white chocolate mocha; I love them too!! Try a sugar free rasberry chi, it is mmmmm. Thanks for the warning. All in all your body will tell you what it likes and doesn't, listen to it.

Hi Rayette --

Is the Chi tea the same thing as Chai Tea? I'm trying to limit my caffiene due to my borderline BP -- I saw the Chai Tea at Starbucks and wasn't sure if it had caffeine or not....assumed it did.

Be cautious of teas. Some of them, for example the mata teas, have just as much caffeine as coffee. Other teas, like white or green, have less than 10% the amount of coffee.

IMO a little of anything is ok and too much of anything is not ok. I wouldn't necessarily go on coffee-fast for months while ttc, just maybe cut down or switch to decaf (or mix half-half?)

I quit caffeine for the most part for years now I am highly sensitive to it. Two glasses of tea and I see spots and get irritable to the point I can't stand myself, lol. I drink decaf coffee, but most places around here don't offer decaf tea. I miss being able to order pop when we are eating out!

Has anyone tried Bolthouse Farms Vanilla Chai tea? I love it! I get it at the grocery store. It only has .13 milligrams of caffeine in it. I haven't tried their other flavors. I only found these recently, so I'm sure I'll try more of them. Here is the website if you want to check this out.

I use to love my coffee! It didnt help when I use to have a huge crush on a guy who use to serve my coffee at uni, that would equal 6 skinny lattes a day for me! Since I've been diagnosed I've switched to decaf and only drink tea and green tea. No more hot coffee guy for me ! lol!

Hi Susan, yes Chi Tea is the same. Sorry about the miss spelling. You can get it decaf. I think there is more caffeine in most teas than in coffee. I always use french vanilla in my coffee, so I switched so I would limit the sugar I am using in my drink.

Sillygoose-I love the Bolthouse Chai Tea as well. It is good cold or warmed up.

Jashobeam-Have you tried different herbal teas? They are easy to slip a pouch in your purse and just get hot water when you go out. Good Earth makes great teas. I just found a red raspberry in that brand that is wonderful. No caffeine.

I hate hot tea, lol. I bought a pack a while back hoping that the flavored ones would taste good, but I had to give them away. I guess it's my southern roots, my tatebuds won't accept anything except old fashioned cold, sweet tea. I even tried brewing the fancy tea and putting ice in it, but that didn't work.

Default Confusion

My confusion is due to being new at all this... there are some sights that say Green Tea is OK, others say no due to caffiene. I was told at a tea shop that if i steep the tea leaves for a minute, pour out the tea and then re-steap the leaves than i have weakened the tea... maybe thats true? Maybe not? Maybe it helps? I don't know, there is so much of what you can and cannot do with all this that it gets a little rediculous.

Chrissy - no worries - there's no hard and fast rule for pcos'ers and coffee/tea.

You'll find many cysters who continue to drink both without issue. (Not sure about the ttc issue, however.)
