Melissa - ask your doctor about laying in a kiddie pool on the porch. My doctor was extremely cautious. I was not even supposed to sit up to eat. However, the kiddie pool was his idea. I could lay in it and relax.

Hey Girls, I could really use some help. I just scheduled my appt with a perinatologist in Minneapolis for August 17 so that we can have a plan together for my next pg (which I will hopefully be pg by the time the appt comes!). Anyway, I started a thread about questions I should be asking my peri. If you have any advice to give or information I should read or anything, please help me out!!! We're driving 4 1/2 hours one way just to meet with this dr and I want to be as informed as possible and get as much information as possible. Please help me out if you can. Thanks a million!

Sorry! Lots of the women know my story, so I didn't even think about posting why I was seeing a peri! I lost my twin boys May 7 at almost 20 weeks due to IC/PTL. I knew there was something wrong, but no doctors would listen to me until I was in the ER and was dialated, having discharge and having contractions 2 minutes apart. My cervix was shortening at earlier appts but no one would do anything about it even though I begged for a cerclage. Anyway, that night I was taken up to L&D and put on the monitors and everything and then eventually rushed me to the OR to attempt an emergency rescue cerclage. My membranes were bulging by then and we decided we had to try the cerclage because if we didn't, we would have lost the boys for sure. Right after they put me under and got me in position to do the cerclage, my water broke and I began to hemmorage. They tried to stop it but couldn't. I had to deliver both the babies and they still couldn't get it stopped. I lost over a gallon of blood and almost died. They were seconds from taking my uterus when it finally stopped. (This is the very short and least gory version of the horrible story.) The OB that was on call talked to me after I woke up and told me what happened and then when we met with her weeks later she said that if we came back to her for my next pg (she wasn't my OB) that we would do a cerclage at 10-12 weeks right away because she's very sure that would have prevented this, although she's unsure of what was actually the main cause, if it was IC or PTL. So the plan I'm hoping for is to be treated for both just to cover all our bases.

Hmmm.. well then.. I would assume they are planning a cerclage around 12 weeks?? I would also ask for P17 injections starting at week 16.. And early monitoring of your P4 levels..

Good luck to you! Keep us all posted!

Thanks! The OB that took care of us when we lost the boys will be my OB with my future pg. She said that she will definately do a cerclage around 10-12 weeks, as soon as we know the baby or babies have a good strong heartbeat. I will be taking prometrium (actually starting tonight) through 12 weeks and then I was hoping to do the P17 shots, which is what I need to ask the peri about. Sounds like I might be on the right track here! Thank you so much for your input!

Manders - I am gonna post your post on the IC Miracles thread, that tends to get more traffic than the sticky. Good luck Hon!

It may be at 16wks that I start the injections...........I was just going off my memory.........once I go in next week for an u/s and everything looks good ...then I will have everything written down..........but thanks for the info!!! My OB also is a RE.........and deals with high risk pregnancies........and he is very open to what the patient wants.......so if I say at 16wks instead of 17wks ....dont think he would have a problem......!!! LOL

Let me know how the injections go.........I'm a nurse but I think I"m going to have DH do mine...............don't think I can stick myself.
