I hadnt known IC was a problem with the exposure, but I screen paps and we look for clear cell carcinoma of the cervix on women whose mothers took DES. These daughters were getting that cancer in their 20s however, so basically anyone who is alive today whose mothers took DES are no longer in any danger and are past baby having age, in 2006 the effects arent really seen anymore. Hope that made sense.

My Mood: Points: 9,737.26 Bank: 5,481,934.08 Total Points: 5,491,671.34 | Hi Girls:
Question: (perhaps TMI!!!): I am just 24 weeks pregnant, and have had a relatively normal 24 weeks...I know that a certain number of vaginal discharge is normal in pregnancy...and quite honestly I have had a bit of normal "extra" since becoming pregnant, however, lately whenever I have a BM and wipe, it seems that there is a brown tinged mucousy discharge on the TP...this has been happening for about two weeks. I did have two internals (because of the ER trip, and then my OB checking me out!) in the last two weeks....and I will assume that the brown tinge is from that, but the mucous is almost like the consistency of EWCM...anyone know if this is normal!? of course I am paranoid about losing my mucous plug...and not knowing I have lost it!! I have no other symptoms, they HAVE checked my cervix at every exam (I go in for u/s and OB every three weeks) and it measures fine every time, last time it was a 3.9. Baby is moving around all the time, and the doppler have shows a consistent healthy hearthbeat. Any advice would be lovely!

My Mood: Points: 6,957.02 Bank: 3.48 Total Points: 6,960.50 | It's hard to say what it is. It does sound like mucus plug to me, but the fact that you've been checked sounds good. It may be pieces of your plug. It can regenerate (or at least that's how I understand it). I just don't know. As long as they've done a cervical u/s and eliminated the possibility that you are funnelling/dilating, I think you should be okay. |

The baby was moving and we could see the hb, but the placenta is low lying, not covering the cervix, but its edge is near it, and there is a clot near the cervix. She said everything is ok for now but I am at a higher risk for pre-term labor, do you guys know anything about this?

As far as the low-lying placenta, the placenta tends to move away from the cervix with time. So it should move sometime over the next several weeks so you can breathe easier!
Do ask your doc to keep a VERY close eye on your placenta for clotting.
A, I would agree that it sounds like you're okay. As long as you're getting regular cervix checks (ask for a cervical U/S, if you're not getting those regularly), you should be fine. With Rivi, my only symptom of IC was a FLOOD of EWCM...we're talking an incredible increase. A little bit is probably nothing to worry about, but ask your doc if at any point you feel paranoid - I'm a big believer in mommy intuition.

I had a big (TMI) glob of brownish/yellowy CM with a big blood clot looking thing in it this AM, and it just didn't seem right. I stayed home from work, and called my OB. She had me come in, did the exam, manually and said my cervix felt closed and firm, but has me going in to get a cervical and level II u/s at 2PM....she wasn't sure what was causing all of the mucus and discoloration...it's always something huh?? Thank you for encouraging me to call and to trust my intuition! I will update when I get home...Oh, and she took me off work for the week...telling me to rest and keep my feet elevated.
Anna

The u/s tech did say I have placenta previa and didnt mention much about the clot. I am getting on progesterone shots next week to try and prevent preterm birth, hope it helps.

Points: 6,274.87 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 6,274.87 | OK, I think I am the most paranoid pregnant person ever! I have been getting ultrasounds every 2-3 weeks to check on my cervix since it's on the shorter side and I've had a LEEP in the past. At my 8 week ultrasound it was 3 1/2. At 15 weeks it was 3.9. At 17 weeks it was 3 1/2 again. The doctor who gave me the ultrasound didn't seem concerned at all about how it's shorter; She said something about different angles or something. But I am still freaking out! I know she didn't see any funneling or anything, but is it wierd that it's shorter? I know I'm still in the normal zone, but I'm worried because I don't have another ultrasound for 2 1/2 weeks. I need advice from you experts- should I be worried? Should I insist on an earlier ultrasound???
