Has anyone ever had a problem with warts appearing on their hands with the whole hormone fiasco? I have tried to research this, and I keep finding that genital warts will be more likely to "reappear" or come out in a pregnant person because of a hormone surge. I am thinking that would apply to me as well (even though I am not pregnant-- and the warts are on my hands). I noticed this when I started having symptoms of PCOS a year ago, but they went away, now they are back!! I have now been put on Metformin, but was curious if anyone else was battling this and what they did for it.

I used to get them on my hands as a child. There are OTC meds for this, but mainly they just go away in 6 months to 2 years. Handwashing is supposed to help them from spreading. Duct tape is a home remedy I haven't tried, but it might be worth a go.
Any kind of wart will grow more with 2 things:
1) Pregnancy - the hormones sometimes make them appear or suddnely start to grow but you would have been exposed to the virus previously. Also I think its to do with the immune system being overloaded and a bit stressed with the starting of pregnancy.
2) Smoking - this is why if you have HPV - DO NOT SMOKE... some gynos can literally tell if a women has "started smoking" again by looking at HPV activity ont the cervix and the abnormal cells.
If you have them your hands. Go to a Chemist or Pharmacy and there are many treatments these days for them.
I had warts on my hand for about a year- I tried all kinds of OTC methods and nothing worked. Sometimes they would go away only to come back a few weeks later. I finally tried the duct tape method and it worked! All I did was cut little pieces of duct tape and put them over the warts while I slept. I didn't even put it on during the day unless I was hanging out at home, alone. They went away quickly and painlessly. Definitely try it.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions with this problem. I have tried duct tape and it seems to work. I stopped because now there are some that are in places I can't use duct tape during the day. I didn't think it would be beneficial to use just at night. I'll have to try that! I am going to the doctor soon and I am going to bring it up. I think I have read somewhere that most folks are exposed in childhood, so who knows what could bring it out now-- hormones, stress, insulin resistance--there are probably too many to name with PCOS. ha! Thanks again!

I used duct tape on mine. If you rub them slightly with an emery board first, seems to go away faster. Use the cheap paper type board and throw it out afterward.
