Question Wax or Laser for Newbie?

I have decided to get rid of this unsightly upper lip hair. I am looking for pros/cons of waxing/lasering this specific area. With waxing, I am concerned that regrowth will appear immediately and be noticeable and I'll have to wait too long to re-wax. With laser, I am mostly concerned about having to start shaving, both before treatment and in between, and perhaps the rest of my life!
I have never done anything for my upper lip, not even bleach and am very afraid of shaving there for the first time. I do not want to start and regret it like other body parts.
Please give me your opinions on this. What do you do and what works best for your mustache??

I'm interested thoughts on lagal23's question. The other day I was getting my eyebrows waxed and the technician asked me if she should do my lip. I wanted to crawl under the table. I'm afraid that if I do anything it will make it worse. Right now, there are a few dark hairs, but it is still light and not terribly noticable to other....although painfully noticable to me!

For years I've gotten an occasional lip wax...and only when my hormones really started going haywire did I have to step it up. The fact is, I recommend it, especially in comparison to shaving. I think (and may be wrong) that it would seem shaving would be more noticeable. Waxing seems to last a good amount of time and the hairs don't necessarily come back any more noticeable.
(It doesn't feel good, but its temporary)

I now have my eyebrows and lip waxed...no more plucking except for one or 2 occasional strays.

However, there are certain acne medications that make it so you can't wax. Don't know which those are.

Question

How often do you have to wax your lip and how noticeable does it get between appointments? Have you ever shaved or clipped it, or was waxing the first thing you tried?

Sorry it took so long for me to respond...there were troubles with my email.

I'm waxing my lip about once a month. It is the first thing I tried, I haven't tried clipping or shaving because I was afraid of having stubble.

Thumbs up Waxing!

Hi girls!!

I just recently started waxing. I had been shaving my face since I was 14 and I am now 19, and I just became sick of it. Shaving my face made me feel unfeminine, the results were stubbly, and I had to do it every day. I decided to wax...and I am glad I did! I have been waxing three times. I wax my eyebrows and the underside of my chin. The results are much better than shaving and it last a lot longer as well! I have to get this done about every three weeks! My skin is sensitive and I noticed that it broke out in a rash...but I bought a product called "Bump Eliminator," that works wonders. It takes away bumbs and rashes. The hair does not grow in any worse than it did before....it is a lot softer and finer. Even after only three waxes I have seen an improvement! I really like waxing and I would reccomend it to anyone! Hope this helps!!! Please let us know how things go!!!

Also Lagal...WELCOME TO SOULCYSTERS HUN!

I waxed my face for years and I really liked it! Especially the lip wax feels so nice and smooth and usually lasts for about three weeks or so. I recently had laser done -- just finished up my fourth and final session, and it is MUCH better -- but not 100%. My guess is I will still have to wax my lip, just not nearly as often. I still have my eyebrows waxed anyway. But, the laster was GREAT on the "sideburns!" And just so-so on the chin. Just my experience!
