Hi everyone. We are new to considering adoption & I have a question. Is it cheaper to place newspaper ads to find a child instead of going through an agency? I thought about going this route once we're approved to adopt if it cuts down on the cost.

I'm not sure about that, but just to let you know, a lot of the adds in papers are those of agencies... but it's worth a shot I would think. I believe there are places on the internet also you can post messages. I tell ya from experiance that word by mouth does work. That's how we adopted, my brother heard of a girl and my brother talked to her , she called ME!!!! So it's not impossible to do adoptions by word of mouth. So I think that news papers would be a good idea. I didn't have to go thru a agency this way. I had to get a lawyer tho... Good luck with your decision.

I have also considered this possibility because of the lower costs but haven't been able to find out much about it. I was thinking there might be some good books out there so if I find out anything good I'll let you know!
