We have a social worker assigned already! Yesterday at 12:30 p.m. I handed over our first big packet of papers and wrote a cheque for $1,295 to get the adoption process officially started. Our adoption coordinator is so wonderful. She understands how much we want to "fast track" through this process because of our age and she can see how motivated we are to get everything done... Since I had made an appointment to drop off the application and fee, she went ahead and pre-assigned our social worker to move things along. Our home study should begin within 7-10 days!
The adoption coordinator was telling me that they just had 2 families return from Russia in July with their babies. One couple brought went through the process in just over 10 months from start to finish and they have a 9 month old girl. The other couple went through the process in just under 9 months and they have a 6 month old boy! These two stories sure gave me hope that by our 3rd wedding anniversary we will be a "forever family" with our new baby in our home.
