Talking We Need More Aussie Gals!!!!!!

G'day all!
Let's start up a new Aussie chick thread!

There are sooooo many of us out there! We should chat about everything on this thread! Meds, marriage, partners, life, weight, fun things to do on weekends, the lot! I don't know about all of You, but I love coming to this site to have something different to do and know I'm not alone out there!!!!!!!!

Love Bek x

I second that notion!! I'm gonna mark my spot.... riggggghhht..... HERE!!

Ok... so I'm gonna start first, about me... I'm 23, been with my fiancee since i was 19, and we got PG after two weeks of dating. I think I hit the one night stand jackpot, lol. He's lovely!! For fun, I usually drag him around to concerts and gigs, he's more of a videos at home kinda guy. Which is good, cause i always have a babysitter I guess, lol. Apart from that, we're pretty boring.... I LOVE music, especially pearl Jam, I'm a huge fan

Ok, so thats my intro... Sooo, Beks, any plans for the weekend??

Wowee! You did hit the one night stand jackpot! When are you getting married?

I love music too. I'm really into everything - soul, RnB, dance, acoustic.. you name it! I'm really into Ministry of Sound chillout sessions at the moment. (the newest one) -Loving it. Lucky you have a baby sitter : ) Do you have a boy or a girl?

Weekend............ hmmm................. dunno yet. Still busy planning the week. Maybs some gardening (how's that for boring!) oh and shopping! Lots of shopping. I have a new hobby- spending money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehe.

What do you do during your days? You work or at home or neither? heeheh. I am an office manager (work for landscape architects).. very much a short term thing until we have a baby mind you! I love my job- but can't wait to be a mum.

What time is it over in Adelaide? Are we on the same time- we just started daylight savings. I don't know if i like it or not................!

Hi Everyone! I'm not sure if I really fit in to this forum. I live in Sydney with my DP of 7 years who is Aussie although I am originally from New York. We moved to Sydney from Hong Kong in April 2007 and we are LOVING it. We are also expecting our first child 1 July, 2008!!

~beks~

I have a little girl named Shayla, she's pretty cool :-D Hooray for gardening huh?!! Lol I wish I could garden, darn water restrictions.. everything is dying on me!.

I was going to Uni studying nursing, but I'm not doing that anymore. I might start again after the next baby whenever he/she comes. Got way too stressful, issues with TTC, i had my car stolen and my daycare lady moved to Melbourne. Plus, I hated it anyway, lol.

Ummm... I think we're a few hours ahead of you's guys. We visited Perth a couple years ago and i remember there was a pretty big gap. I loved Perth, we almost moved there had it not been for the friends we stayed with.... we're not friends anymore cause of that trip lol

~hkgrl7~

Of course you fit in!! Congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy :-) How did you do it? Any special tips you can give us TTCers?? Good to hear you are loving Sydney, I'd love to live overseas, or even just holiday... maybe one of these days

Thanks Sheree! To be honest with you, we were very surprised about the pregnancy because I have been told by several doctors that due to PCOS and an eating disorder as a teenager, I may never get pregnant and if I was to conceive, it would be very difficult which was horrible to hear. Upon arriving in Sydney in April, I went to a new doctor who put be on Diabex XR (I had been on regular met previously) and we conceived my first cycle of the bcp!! It was incredible since I hadn't ovulated for 7+ years. I really believe that Metformin is a miracle drug..although I realize it does not work for everyone, it's definitely worth a shot.
Living overseas is exciting and we certainly enjoyed travelling a lot but Australia is the most beautiful country (you don't need me to tell you that though!!)

Well, I guess I'll say hi too. I'm also in Syd...studying International Development. But my mind is mostly focused on my silly body at the moment, trying to get it working.

I'm trying to heal naturally. Though getting a little scared that I may never have a child. Fills up most of my days!

Its so lovelly to hear every ones success stories though, it gives me hope!!

Hello

I'm Spanish living in Brisbane, married to a fantastic Aussie. I have never been on any meds other than the pill but since we got married I stopped and my periods have been crazy!

I have my first app with gyno in January and see what she says. I am also going to start a weight loss programme with a clinic, a little bit expensive but hopefully it'd be worth it.

Hope to know more about all of you!!

Elkanah- I certainly appreciate your situation. I'm 23 and also tried the natural route. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me and I would be more than happy to give you the name of my Dr. in Randwick who is just fantastic. I think going the natural route is the best method but if you end up having insulin resistance, like me, you may need medication to begin with. Once the IR is under control, a change in diet may be enough to regulate your system. (I don't want to push the meds on you..just seeing if I can help!) Take care..

hey HKgirl,

Thanks for your response. I'm getting a little frustrated myself with the lack of action that doing it 'naturally' has taken. But I've got to say 7 years on the pill, I am convinced wrecked the little chance I had. Thus my angst with Doctors!

I don't think I'm insulin resistant. I'm about 59kg, and don't eat any processed/refined sugars. But I'm still pretty new to finding out what everything means as I've been 'masking' the problem since my first natural period.

I'm hoping to save up money and go to the "Jocelyn Centre" next year who I have heard live and breathe fertility and have had some amazing results.

The name of that doctor though would be great. I haven't completely lost faith in drugs yet, I'm willing to do what it takes to have a child, but I guess I feel that my body has been through enough drugs in the past 7 years and needs a chance to detox.

Thanks for your kindness and for thinking of me. Would love to hear more about this doc.

Blessings,

Hi Elkanah! To be honest, your situation sounds just like mine! I have been on the pill since I was 15 (eating disorder- no period..) I switched to the mini pill approx. 3 years ago and you are supposed to ovulate on this pill unlike other bcps.. this is when I found out that I didn't ovulate. You may not have IR, but don't rule it out based on weight and diet (I'm 5'7 56kg and stick to a low GI diet). I see Dr. Warren Kidson (9399 6710) in Randwick - 2 minutes from POWH (I hope I'm allowed to put his name here!) but he is wonderful. When I saw him, I was very discouraged that I had been told that I may never conceive..he basically told me that was not the case and it may just take some time.
I just wanted to also tell you that some Drs. are of the belief that women with PCOS have the best chance of conceiving when they first come off the bcp as your cycles are the most regular ..this was certainly the case for me I guess (it happened my 1st month off bcp) Sorry I'm rambling on but I understand your frustration and just want to tell you what I've been told just in case it's helpful in any way. Take care and don't get down yet!!

Hey HKGrl,

I wrote you a pm (because I thought this thread may be the wrong place for this conversation) but it said I couldn't send it as I haven't had enough posts. So I appologise everyone for getting off topic in this thread!!

Its so amazing to hear that your going to be a mummy in July. I am so excited for you! What an amazing blessing! Because our stories are so similar you have given me such hope! Thank you!

I'm heading overseas for 2 months, but when I get back me and the hubby are going to start trying for a child. I may just visit your doctor. I am hoping that by then however I will have had a period!! (I'm sure after 11 months with no period I'll probably get it for 2 months straight while in India!! haahaa But I will greatly rejoice if it does happen!) But if not I may go see your man when I get back.

Are you uncomfortable with the fact that he is a man!?? hahaa?? Am I the only one with the mental problem of not liking male doctors when discussing PCOS?!

Hmm.. Can you girls explain insulin resistence to me?? I have no idea whether or not I am or am not. I had heaps of blood tests at the beginning of the year and no one mentioned it!? What are the symptoms?! How do you know!?

Thanks all again for being so lovely and open! I love being able to talk to people and vent!!

Blessings!
