Here is a copy of the email that I sent to the Oprah show and I hope that you will all just take a moment to do the same at Oprah.com If all 37,758 of us let our voice be heard to the same outlet someone is going to be forced to listen. I, along with 1 out of every 10 women, have a very interesting story to tell but it doesn't seem like it's being heard. We are all connected by one thing, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS which is absolutely devestating to a woman, you'll understand more when you hear the symptoms... they include but are not limited to: extreme weight gain, the growth of dark facial hair, skin tags, the loss of hair on the scalp, acne, depression and extreme mood swings, and loss of libido to name a few. I've found a very comforting outlet called soulcysters.com where almost 40,000 women go for support and what I found there was horrifying, there are so many women who were misdiagnosed or told that it was all in their head and this is a REAL problem, we need help,we need acknowlegement, we need Oprah. Please, just go to the website and read the forums on what these women go through, not just everyday symptoms but horrible pain, irregular periods, having trouble conceiving a child, and all too often miscarriage. Some of the stories are difficult to read without crying. We need help and we need awareness just like every other REAL illness out there.
Most definately and if you get a chance and want to jump on board u can go to oprah.com and click on the "be on the show" link (even though you don't have to be on the show just to give a show idea) and then click on a show idea... i think if we all band together we can get something done
I have sent 2 e-mails to Oprah in the past, and I know several other people have as well. She does not seem interested. I think to get her attention we will need a mpre organized e-mail blitz or something.

That's what I was thinking if you have any ideas on how we can do it... please let me know maybe if we get a lot of people together to email her all at once we can at least get some sort of response... the problem is getting the message out to everyone to get them to do it
I think this would be a really good idea too. I've heard others say they tried it and nothing happened too. Maybe some sort of petition that the members on here could sign and send to her? Maybe if they see how many people would be viewing it would make a difference?

Maybe we need to come up with some ideas to try to get the attention of some smaller outlets too... smaller talk shows or talk shows which focus on women or real life issues like tyra or something like that

I am 21 years old and I have Polycystic ovarian syndrome, it causes me to be obese, have facial hair, acne, hair loss on my scalp, depression, and loss of libido. Although it sounds bad, I don't have the symptoms as bad as some of the women I talk to online who have it. I'm part of an online support group called soulcysters.net, we are trying to get information out about this illness because 1 in every 10 women has it, but there is not 1 single way to diagnose it and there is not 1 drug that is made just for pcos. There are almost 40,000 women in this one support group so it does affect a lot of women and men too, just ask my husband. I just ask that you look at the website, read the stories, and if you have an open show I'm sure there are women who would love to discuss it with you so that we can try to get something done.
