Default We start our homestudy 04/13/06

I'm so excited.... we start our homestudy next thursday. It sounds like its going to be short and sweet but we'll find out. She is doing our interview together this next thursday and at that meeting she will set up our individual meetings. We have a different agency for our foster liscense but typically thats only a visit or two since the adoption agency will shart information with the foster agency.

We're just so excited because we get to start the homestudy.... after 5 months waiting to take our PRIDE class, which was a 3 day process, and then 6 additional classes that the adoption agency requires. We also had to take a baby basics class, cpr, first aid and blood borne pathogens classes. We are so ready for our homestudy. We need to get a crib mattress and fire exstingusher and thats it.

Wish us luck!

How did the homestudy go?

We start our PRIDE classes next month. We are going the foster to adopt route. I noticed you said you need a crib mattress. Do they require that you have all the crib stuff before the homestudy is done? I am just curious because I want to know what all we need to start getting.

Well our case worker from the agency some how never received our confirmation even though it was called in and emailed. So it was pushed back a week to 04/22/06. She came out it was a quick 1 to 1 1/2 meeting. She is suppose to get back to us this week about our one on one interviews and we can schedule those for. We are also going foster to adopt so we have to wait for the second agency who will do our foster license to schedule an appt also. Our agency wants the room ready to go, they do plancements pretty fast! There are three couples that went through PRIDE with us that just finished their homestudy 1 has had a placement, 1 is in transition, and the last has been possibly picked my by a bm. This has all been in the last month. Not all agencys require the room to be ready but I would suggest to ask the agency that you're going through. Its great having the room done because it gives us a place to pray for our children and their familys. We've decided to use the one mattress that we have on the crib, and leave the toddler bed empty. If we need another mattress we will buy one, but we might end up bringing a twin bed home instead.

The agency hasnt expanded it takes a while for them to get approved to open a new agency. I'm hoping that its soon though that they can start helping so many more people!
