    Default weakness, burning in arms

HI Everyone! I am struggling with some health issues....mainly, weakness, burning in my arms. Some in my right leg as well. I have been off metformin for 1 month becaue of the flu (didn't feel like dealing with an upset stomach). I wake up at night with tingling in my face and my arms feel weak. I get this throughout the day. I have beent o the ER twice and to my own doctor. I have an appt. with a neurologist next week. I was just wondering if anyone here has dealt with this? I have wondered if not taking my metformin could throw my body into diabetes and maybe what I am feeling is part of that?

I do worry about MS. Not sure what is happening to me.

Thought it couldnt' hurt to bring this issue here and see what others have experienced.
    Thank You!!

Hi! I'm new here and new to PCOS, so I don't know that much, but I do understand what you're going through. I had 3 episodes (what the neurologist likes to call them) where my left arm went numb/tingly and gradually moved to my face and my tongue swelled. This only lasted about 10 minutes each time and the after effects were slight numbness feelings left over in my face and weakness in my arm. Mine were only these 3 times. I was told it could been rare migraines or an allergic reaction. I had a MRI, which showed no abnormalities. Since I quit smoking (yes, I know it's a horrible habit), I haven't had a epispode. The neurologist finally just came to the conclusion that I was having "a benign response to stimuli". I just attributed it to the smoking, since it went away when I quit. Do you smoke? If not, maybe you're having an allergic reaction to something you are exposed to (these episodes only happened in the last house I was living in, so could have been that)? The best thing to do is to get an MRI to rule out MS. I know this wasn't very helpful...sorry. I still don't know why it even happened to me, but I think ruling out MS is the most important thing.

    Good luck!

Hi! I had similar issues starting about 2 years ago. I would get like burning/hot/tingly sensations in different parts of my body. The thing that worried me most was that the most common and most painful tingling I had was on my head. I was scared to death that I had a brain tumor or something...Also, my legs would occassionally feel weak. So, I went to my family doctor and he was quite concerned (which scared me!) He referred me to a neurologist and I had a cat-scan and MRI done. They did tests to check for things such as MS. Luckily, they didn't find anything wrong and just told me to come back if things get worse. My feeling is that it is linked to hormones and PCOS. I never experienced it until I got my first cycle after giving birth to and then breastfeeding my son for a year. I actually started a low GI diet recently and it seems to be helping a little bit. Hope this helps you....Other than dealing with the weird sensations, it hasn't been too bad! Don't worry....I made myself sick worrying that something was horribly wrong...get your testing done to rule out any possible problems, but I think you will be ok!
