Hi ya'll,
Glad to finally be done reading Genesis. I really enjoyed reading this first book. It contained so many Sunday School tales I was taught when I was a kid, and it was wonderful reading them directly from the Bible. I really enjoyed reading the Bible with my Cysters and I hope that this study will continue one. Your participation has helped me greatly and I hope that it will continue with Genesis and the rest of the Bible.

My thoughts: Genesis Chapter 46: csunshineq, I really enjoyed your observations about this chapter. I too am guilty of forgetting that God is always watching out for me.

I have thought about this as well. Sometimes I remember my dreams so vividly and they seem to be set in the future. I wonder if one day I'll have a bit of deja vu if those events in my dreams actually occur. Some of them are truly wonderful dreams, so here's to hope!
I truly adore how Joseph cares for his family. He absolutely wants to take care of them, regardless of the harm his brother's caused him. I know I've said it before, but it truly moves me when families take care of each other. Its just not so commonplace these days, and that saddens me. But I hope to one day be successful enough to help my family should they need it.
Genesis Chapter 47: I didn't know that even Egyptians were slaves to Pharaoh! Learn something new everyday. But I guess I'd choose to be a slave too to prevent myself from starving to death. Joseph seems to be a truly cunning business man on Pharaoh's behalf.
Genesis Chapter 48: I found this interesting:
Quote:
from The MacArthur Student Bible NKJV 48:14 guiding his hands knowingly By intentionally crossing his hands and placing his right hand on the younger, not only the firstborn, but Jacob altered what Joseph had expected. Yet Jacob knew exactly what he was doing. The blessing took on prophetic significance, because Ephraim would become the more influential of the two tot he extent that Ephraim would become a substitute name for Israel.

Genesis Chapter 49: I love how Joseph's prophecy about the Twelve Tribes was written as if it were poetry, even if it is a bit confusing. I just love the more flowery language.
Quote:
from The MacArthur Student Bible NKJV 49:1 - 28 With Judah and Joseph receiving the most attention (vv. 8 - 12, 22 - 26), the father's blessing portrayed the future history of each son, seemingly based upon their characters up to that time. The confusing message of the poetry demands rigorous analysis to correlate tribal history with Jacob's last word and testament. See Moses' blessing on the tribes in Deut. 33

Genesis Chapter 50: I found it very cool that Egypt mourned at Jacob's passing. A large portion of Egypt, including the elders, went with Joseph and his brothers to bury his father.
Quote:
from The MacArthur Student Bible NKJV 50:24 God will surely visit you. Joseph died just as he had lived, firmly trusting God to carry out His promises (see Heb. 11:22). Nearly four centuries later, Moses took Joseph's bones out of Egypt (Ex. 13:19), and Joshua burned them at Shechem (Josh 24:32).
