Sorry to be a pain (this is my 3rd thread!) But it is nice to have a forum with so many other females with pcos! Basically I weigh over 14 stone!! Im 14 years old and this has a effect on me . I find diets hard as i go out alot with friends and we end up jus snacking on junk .I have done the gi died with no luck and low carb diet with no luck.I know I have to lose weight and im due to see my garneycoligiost (sorry bout spelling) in just over 2 months.I have gained weight since my last appointment.Does any one have a set 7 day menue they could give to me to use.I want to be like any other slim 14 year old not a overweight one. What makes it worse is i dont eat that bad and im active aswell .I lose confedence in my sport as i feel to big and known to do it.All id like is a 7 day set menue wich has helped you or others.I want to go back with a positive weight and show i am trying PLEASE!! x0x0x
I have found, and as hard as it may seem, the more you excercise, the less you eat, the less hungry you are, and if you keep track of calories you intake and burn, that will help

I can only give you some ideas on what to eat Ive lost 20 pounds so far. STAY AWAY FROM JUNK diets are hard to follow even a seven day menu is not going to give you the results you want right away Ive learned it takes time and will power I eat alot of veggies cucumbers are good they fill you up also set a time for yourself to cut off eating completely try not to eat after 5-6pm drink lots of water take the long way around if you have to walk somewhere and dont eat if you are not hungry try to do other things like exercise dance around to music I lost the 20 in 1 month and now I get full faster if you are going to snack try to snack right fruits and veggies even if your friends are eating junk just remember it will catch up to them eventually your health is more important than a candy bar and try and stay clear of fast food that stuff is badddd. its good but baddddd. also if you make you a plate for dinner eat slow youll notice that you only eat about half of wht is on your plate hope this helps take good care of yourself and your body and love who you are at the present you can lose the weight if you want to it just takes time...
Cheers,im jus sick and tired of it.Thanks for the advice everyone x

Jess,
you could try the Heller system if you find it very hard to not eat the same stuff as your friends. It worked for me when I did it (slowly, but steadily). Here goes:
You can have three meals a day. No snacking (so make your fast food expeditions with your friends your lunch).
You can have water, black tea, black coffee, or herbal teas, all without sugar. If you have to put milk in your tea or coffee, restrain yourself to one cup a day.
Two of these meals must not contain carbs, so it's veggies (no corn, no carrots, no peas, no beans except green beans) and proteins (lean meat like chicken breast, cooked ham, fish, soybeans, tofoe, eggs - but no more than two a day, ...). You can have some dairy, but make sure that it doesn't have more than 4 g of carbs per 100 grams/ml. The "light" products usually contain more carbs, by the way. So check the back ofthe boxes.
The third meal (and you can choose whether that is lunch or dinner) leaves it up to you to eat whatever you like, as long as all 4 food groups are equally represented. That means, the meal has to have veggies, protein, carbs (think pudding ...!) and dairy (milk, cheese, yoghurt...). You can drink whatever you like. Now you're thinking: "where's the catch?": Well, you have one hour to eat and drink. No eating after the hour is over!
This works best if you try to not eat after 7 pm.
By doing this, you only trigger one insulin spike a day (for your "reward meal"), which helps burn fat during the day and keeps your blood sugar levels low.
I am no doctor,, I am just another cyster, but this sure helped me. Maybe it's something you can do? You need to be strict with yourself for the two non-carb meals, but I found it was easy, since I had my "reward-meal" to look forward to.
Good luck!

Hi there,
Last year I had a liver biopsy and they told me I have Fatty Liver Disease. Well, I asked the dr what I can do about that? He said lose weight. I was like " great........ I have PCOS and thats hard" he said to go on a low fat diet.
So I did, gave up carbonated beverages and walked on the treadmill or swam 20 minutes a day for 5 days a week. I cut out red meat all week but one day, and I ate one night a week a non meat meal. Fast food was hard but they have good choices now. I Drank Ice Tea with Lemon and Splenda--- I am a southern girl. And ice water with lemon. For a treat I would eat fat free sherbet or nonfat frozen yogurt in a cake ice cream cone- no fat and yummy. I read a lot of lables and tweaked some recipes. In 2 months I lost 20 pounds and about 3 sizes. I felt better than I had in years. My 8 year old saw me crawling on the floor with a friends baby and asked why I could do that now.
Now as a Mom of a 13 year old daughter, I know it is hard when you are young and worry with your weight. My child does too. She watches what she eats and puts on her music and walks. Not always because it is hard on her to. I have to encourage her a lot. She even just does a couple stretches in her room in the morning ( her idea) she cut some out of a magazine and put them on a sheet and has her own little thing. Just watching what you eat, drinking water and just start out with a little excersize and work your way up. I tell everyone 10 minutes is better than nothing. You can do it. And if you do it when you are young it will be easier to do when you get older. Take a piece of advice from everyone and combine it into your own weight loss plan. And remember if you are good all week treat yourself on a certain day, and you can have a little junk with your friends because you earned it.
It won't be easy with the PCOS but you know, when I dropped that weight my bloodwork all showed improvement. I still have many nasty little PCOS problems but at least I feel a little better.
Keep your chin up, you can do it!
In my opinion, the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to make a 'lifestyle change'. I don't believe 'diets' work. You have to eat healthy and get some exercise...it is the only way, in my opinion. See a dietician and find out how to eat properly, i have discovered since counting my carbs, and learning what a true serving size is...that although i knew what was healthy before, i didn't know how much i should be eating. It truely makes a HUGE difference. And if you do it this way and you are meeting all your nutritional needs, you aren't hungry...unfortunately you do have to give up junk, for the most part. Some chips or ice cream, or whatever ONCE IN A WHILE won't hurt you, you can't have it every day...my doctors told me to be strict with my diet 6 days a week, then allow the 7th day to be 'naughty within reason' that way you aren't depriving yourself of the treats, and you have something to look forward to all week long. Good luck, once you set your mind to it, you can do it!
