Default Weight Gain

hi all,

i am wondering if any of you have noticed significant weight gain within a short period of time. i seem to have gained 20 pounds in just 5 months. it seems to be steadily going upward. do you know what might be causing this?

can you suggest any exercise routines? i enjoy walking/hiking but would love to try other forms of physical activity.

thanks,
bandanna

Are you on Met ? And/or watching your carbohydrate intake ?

One of the standard symptoms of PCOS is weight gain.

I had the same problem, then I started inline skating - it's awesome! It really works the problem areas and it is a ton of fun, I think it's more like playing than working out. If you used to skate as a kid, it will come back really quickly, if not just start out in a big parking lot (after hours). It might be a good idea to rent some to see if you like it or not, then consider buying - if you're going to buy, I would invest in a good brand (I have K2's, and I love them).

Good luck! Robin

I gained 5 lbs in a month without any significant change in my eating or activity level. My endo told me to watch my carbs (no more than 50 g per meal) and I started an exercise program at Curves. I haven't lost the weight, but I've been maintaining.

The sudden weight gain started within a few months of stopping my BCPs. The BCPs were helping to normalize my hormones. While I was on them, I was able to lose 30 lbs in 6 months and maintain it, the smoothest a weight loss program has ever gone for me.

Just curious, have you recently discontinued BCPs?

hi,

thank you all for replying and for your exercise recommendations.

yes, i have recently discontinued the pill but i was only taking it for 2 months.

no, i'm not on met but i am watching my carb intake. i try to eat only the essential carbs and not taking a lot of junk food anymore.

skating sounds like a lot of fun. it seems like things learnt from childhood really comes in handy now that we're adults. unfortunately, skating is something i can't do. but mausi, thanks for giving me something to think about. i will think of something that i did when i was a kid and see if it'll help control the weight gain.
