My doctor prescribed Actos, and I took it for 3 months. I would have taken it longer, as it was helping as far as periods were regular again, but I had RAPID weight gain. I gained 40 lbs. in 3 months, which I definitely did not need! Has anyone else out there taken Actos and gained weight?
I didn't have rapid weight gain, but I didn't lose weight and it made my fluid retention horrible (I already have problems with it) I was only on it a few months. Something to talk to your doctor about, you never know what it could be. Good luck, hope you get your answers!

I have not personally taken Actos but Actos and Avandia both normally cause weight gain, anywhere from 10-15 pounds is normal. It causes fluid retention and when looking at medications to try my Endo had warned me about this.

Just another point of view. Actos is the only drug that worked for me in terms of cycles, insulin, acne, hair, testosterone, etc... I had no side-effects with this medication. It helped me greatly, I lost weight, and my numbers came down significantly. I think we all have different body systems that react differently to various drugs, i.e. Glucc. sent me to the ER. Be very up front with your physicians and listen to your bodies. Good luck!
Yes, I gained significantly on it. It turned me into a crazed eating machine. I threatened to find a new doctor if he didn't change me to something else. I am on Januvia now and it's the greatest thing ever. I love it.

I gained 15 lbs with Actos and had trouble with fluid retension, but it really helped the hairy chin and cycles. I got taken off Wed and put on Januvia. We'll see how it goes. The webmd site scared me with all the user reviews--most had severe fatigue and leg pain-I have that already!!!
