i have tried everything to lose weight . i watch what i eat and excerise everyday doctor has given me pills to try that did nothing but cause problems. so does anyone have any ideas that worked for them
I am healthy weight, so from that point of view I don't really relate to your struggles with weight loss, although I have always struggled to keep my weight at the same level (until about 2 months ago). I will recommend to you what my specialist recommended to me - which was diet + daily exercise + metformin to lower insulin (which would in turn cause weight loss, since when insulin is high, your body finds it very hard to burn fat, and just stores it). The diet the specialist recommended was from the 'New Glucose Revolution' books - a low GI and GL diet.
Hope this helps,
Michelle

dx mar 06 PCOS/IR - 2000mg Metformin, multivitamin, B12, chromium, fish oil
dx may 06 male factor - Y chromosome microdeletion and chronic abacterial prostatitis
dx may 07 depression (but suffered throughout my teens) - 50mg Zoloft
tried Clomid (100mg) last year
now waiting for the results of DH's prostatitis treatment ....
Thanks For The Advice But Already Tried Diet Infact I Am Still On Diabetic Diet And I Excerise 60 Minutes A Day As Recommend And As For Metformin I Already Tried That It Tried To Shut My Liver And Landed Me In The Hospital For A Month So That's Out The Question But Thanks Anyways
Sorry to hear about your liver probs. I have heard there are other meds that you can take if you can't take metformin. Thiazolidinediones (Roziglitazone / Avandia) are also insulin-sensitizing drugs that are sometimes used to treat diabetes and the metabolic syndrome - but I don't know if you can take them if you have liver probs.
Are you seeing a specialist that you could ask? Are you seeing a dietitian?
I'm sorry my advice was unhelpful, I was just trying to help.
Michelle

i have been trying to lose weight for about a year, and well the only thing that worked for me is well, tanning, I dont know why but it may be the metformin, BUT i had started tanning in beds about 2 weeks ago and have lose 1.5lbs more!!!!! I asked my doctor and she even said that sometimes that works due to endorphins.....................but that is just me, I am not sure that is it but hey whatever gets me results.

yes shellygirl i am seeing a dietitian as well as a endo and a new gyn on the 16th . i know you were just trying to help and i appreiate it really. vtmommy tanning really help you lose weight wow that is different i would try that whole sunlight thing but i am worried about burning i guess it wouldn't be to bad if it was not to hot or the uv is low at least. twodognight i actually tried weight watchers i have literally tried everything it got to the point i feel like ripping my hair out and saying the hell with it
Have you tried Simply for Life? I haven't done it but I know alot of people in my office building and in my family. It is quite expensive though. You get personal help and they make a custom menu for you. On of my officemates lost 22lbs in 6 weeks and doesn't have to take blood presure and cholesterol meds anymore. My uncle also had similar results. Hope this helps!

I follow Weight Watchers in combination with no white carbs, no sugar. It seems to be working for me. But Weight Watchers wasn't working well for me until I cut out the whites & sugar.

I was very successful using Atkins - lost 100 pounds on it, then gained some back when I went off after my mom got cancer (major stress). It worked best for me when I followed the first phase (Induction - 20g carbs or less per day). That's what I'm back to doing now.
Hope this helps.
