I was and would be if not medicating be a full blown diabetic, back in August my insulin level was a 21 (its supposed to be a single digit) and my glucose was 138 (its supposed to be under a 100), I was experiencing all the symptoms of diabetes and by the bloodowrk I was. I had lost 35 lbs the unhealthy way and it wasn't doing anything for the levels and I wanted to conceive. Cholsterol was enormous. Fast forward 3 months later: I follow IR way of eating, low carb, joined the Y and exercise 3-4 days a week. Eat nuts and flax seed to help the cholesterol levels. I have lost another 25 lbs and had bloodwork done last week. My insulin is 5 and my glucose is 97, and for the first time that I know of, they think I ovulated based on my progesterone level. I no longer inject just take my met. So I am a firm believer that the old fashioned way of eating right and exercising can change your life. I used to not be able to get through five minutes on the treadmill walking and now I do 30 and jog for 1/2(not all at the same time though) and can get through an hour of a aerobics class or something similiar. I move a whole lot easier and have lost 2 dress sizes. It wasn't hard it was just difficult to keep the commitment of getting somewhere to work out. When I didn't have the Y, me and Richard Simmons became fast friends from my local library. It can be done, I am still about 210lbs but I have lost 55lbs and went from a 24 to a 18-20 because of eating right and exercising. I am not perfect and will have something bad every now and then but moderation is my key and balanced in an overall healthy diet. |
