Default Weight loss in first trimester

Hi all,
I am 13 weeks,3 days pregnant,AH, and on my last visit that was 2 days ago my nurse told me that I had lost about 2 pounds.
I did ask her if it was something I should be worried about but she said no.
I did get pregnant after IVF and was on progesterone injections and Crinone for a while and stopped those about a week ago.
The nurse said that the weight loss is maybe because of all the hormones and fertility drugs now wearing off.
I have an appointment with my OB in 3 weeks and I can ask her this stuff too.
I was just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation especially after fertility treatments/IVF..?!?!

Thanks...

I'm not in that same situaion, but my husband thinks the fertility meds made me balloon up. He thinks getting injections in your tummy a bunch has to have some effect, let alone all the progesterone, etc. I always think he is just trying to be sweet and give me a nice excuse for the weight gain. I'm 25 lbs heavier than our wedding 10/13/07. I like that nurses points, it adds validity to my issue.

I lost about 15 lbs in the first trimester (although, I definitely had some to lose). I did clomid treatments, so fortunately no IVF or injects. My doctor was not at all concerned with it. I wasn't trying to lose, and I was still eating fairly healthy. I'd say if your docs not worried, then you shouldn't.

I have lost a pound too. Not much but I hope to start gaining a little since I don't have anything to lose.

thanks for the replies...
I forgot to mention that I never had any morning sickness and never threw up....If that were the case the weight loss of a few pounds would have made sense....
In my entire life I have never shed an ounce without trying....hahah...
This came as a surprise though...
Anyways,I just hope its nothing to worry about and I cant wait till the next OB visit....
I think the effect of medications wearing off does make some sense....hmmm

I conceived naturally with my son, so no IVF. But i lost 10 lbs by 15 weeks... I gained 10 back by the time i delivered. Technically, i gained NO weight. My OB didn't seem to think it was a problem. I also started a new job when i found out i was PG and had food aversions really badly for weeks.

I'm 14 weeks and Ive lost almost 6 pounds since I got pregnant. I've never had any morning sickness, but I was on Follistim. My doctor didn't mention anything about my weight loss. I'm fairly certain within no time my weight is going to start going in the opposite direction.

I might be an extreme case of weight loss while pregnant. With DS I lost 20 lbs and gained it all back plus 3 by the end. With this baby I lost 26 lbs in the first trimester and I've gained 8 of it back. The drs/midwife never seemed worried as the baby was growing and my blood tests never came back with any deficiencies. And, this time I lost 3 lbs between my 34 and 36 week visit too (I was up to gaining back 11 lbs).

I conceived on Clomid, and was lucky enough to never have morning sickness, but also didn't gain a pound during my first trimester (miraculously).
Your body is working so hard during that first trimester and burning more calories, so if you are eating the same as you were before you got pregnant - it makes sense that you might lose a few. I wouldn't worry.

I have lost 12lbs since I found out I am pregnant.

Now I have pretty much continual nausea, but I still make myself eat. So it might be that.

I am a fluffy cyster so in a way I am thankful for the weight loss lol. My doctor says its fine and some women who don't have m/s also lose weight first trimester.

I think it seems the norm for women to lose weight in the first trimester. I lost a few pounds as well. My midwife never showed concern and said that people associate pregnancy with weight gain, but nobody ever mentions that in the first trimester, it's more common to see women lose weight rather than gain it.

I have lost 12 pounds so far, and my doctor doesn't seem concerned.

I started out weighing 140 lbs. (slightly overweight, but not a ton) with DD#1 and lost about 5 the first trimester because I hated the smell of meat. I couldn't stand the smell of any kind of meat at all which really limits what sounds apealing. I ended up gaining a total of 25 lbs. with DD#1 and she was perfectly healthy.

My sister on the other hand is my height and weighed about 95 lbs. before she got pg. She gained 35 with my niece (who weighed the same as my DD) and the dr. said that was perfectly normal - she never lost any weight, but c'mon, when you're only 95 lbs., where on earth can you lose it!?!?

I have been flucuating. For some reason my weight is ranging between 5lbs difference daily. Pre-pregnancy was 205, Friday was at 213, Monday at 207, & today I'm 211. I think it must have to do with fluid retention otherwise how can I gain & lose so much in a day?
