Default Weight loss meds

Are many of you on weight loss meds?

I have PCOS and hypothyroidism. It seems like no matter what I do nothing helps me lose weight. I was wondering if anyone takes anything like weight loss meds to help them and if it does indeed help.

If you do, did you endo prescribe them for you? I go back in a few weeks and am not sure how to bring it up.

Thanks

My bariatric doctor put me on one that was supposed to be mild. To be honest I can't remember what it was called. At first it was great, like it gave me this rush of energy I had not felt since I was much younger, but one day my heart started to race & I became dizzy. Luckily I was just sitting at my desk, not driving.

She acted like it was no big deal and I realized then that all she was concerned about was my weight loss, not my heart.

I haven't been back on them since. The whole thing was so disappointing, as I had lost 5 lbs on that drug within 2 weeks, but it isn't worth the risk to me.

Hi newgamommy - I am not currently on weight loss meds - but I am seriously considering if my other attempts fail.

If you do not know how to bring up the subject with your Endocrinologist - simply make a list of everything that you would like to talk about with him/her.

Make sure that you go over everything on your list. Don't feel embarrassed to talk about weight loss. Tell your doc that you were researching weight loss meds, and was wondering if he/she recommended them.

Once I brought it up with my Endo - he asked me if I wanted to give them a shot. I told him that I would consider them if all else failed. So atleast I know that the option is there.

Good luck to you! And remember, weight loss meds are not for everyone.
