Talking Weight loss success stories WANTED!!!

I was dx with diabetes one week ago. I could not believe it, but am glad I found a name to why I have been feeling so tired. Dr. did not want to test me for diabetes because he felt I was too young...29. I have a strong family history and I have gained so much weight in the past few years. After diagnoses Dr. sent me to a nutritionist who has put me on more food than I normally eat. 3 meals with 60 carbs and 2 snacks with 30 carbs. I am so afraid I will definately gain weight. I do feel better. My blood sugar is staying in moderate levels during the day and has been going to @ 150 at bedtime reading. This is my AF week and not sure if that plays a part in my readings. This is all new to me, but I do take it very serious. I want to do good and change my unhealthy eating habits. I just feel this is so much so fast. Everyone keeps saying "oh you will lose so much weight on the diabetic diet", but at the rate I am eating I am so afraid of gaining so much more. I need encouragement. Success stories to lift me up. If you lost weight was you cutting back on the food you ate or was it the medicine or the diabetic diet or what??? This site is so encouraging to me. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the help. My dr. told me to check my blood sugar 4 times a day, before breakfast & 2hrs after breakfast then also, at supper, before and after. My bedtime is usually 2 hrs after supper. I need to schedule in an earlier supper. I am not on medication as of now. My dr. wants me to try diet and exercise for two weeks and will review my progress and determine which medicine will work best. I appreciate your help. It does help to have someone who has been there. Thanks again. May God Bless you!!

What is the diabetic diet? Can you post a sample menu for one day, including snacks?
