Does weight have anything to do with what is the effective metformin dosage? I guess I want to know if my ultimate therapeutic dose will have to do more with my weight or more with my degree of IR.

This is a really good question. I am thin and not IR and I'm on a pretty low dose. I'm wondering why the endo hasn't upped it yet.
I think I've seen thin or non-IR cysters on here with higher doses. Not sure how the doses are determined.

My doctor just recently put me on Met for my pcos. She has me on a pretty high dosage. I am overweight though about 230lbs. I was perscribed 2000mg a day. So maybe the heavier you are the higher dosage you might need.

Yes, I am sure recently that I read that the higher the dose, the more effective Metformin becomes, and losing weight was included in that. It was a study, but I don't remember where I saw it.
Good luck!
