I am so happy to hear your responses regarding weight. I have been heavy all of my life and doctor after doctor kept telling me to lose weight and that everything is all in my head. I finally went to another doctor a hour away from my house and found that I have Insulin Resistance, PCOS and metabolic disorder! He found that out completely within two visits!
I am now on 50mg of Clomid and so far 500mg of Glucophage. Hoping and praying to become PG soon. We have been trying for eight years and have had two miscarriages - the last one was in 2000 and have yet to conceive since.
Good luck to everyone I pray that all of your dreams come true!
my husband and I have just started trying to conceive, i have just started charting bbt, never have before, i am currently taking metformin 1500mg and thyroid meds, can anyone tell me if they have had success in conceiving using the bbt and metformin only, I am 35 years old and i am worried, if i can get pregnant or not, i got pregnant when i was 24 but miscarried at 13 weeks, at that time i didnt know about the pcos or thyroid problem, any comments appreciated, and any advice. thanks!!! Hi, Good Luck on starting your TTC. 35 is a great age. I think the
main thing is to get your early cycle blood tests (CD1 - CD3). They
will let the doctor know what your egg reserve and Thyroid levels look
like. A sperm analysis for your dh and a timed ultrasound would also not hurt.
I have a friend who could not concieve despite her fsh, lh,
testosterone, and e2 levels were normal. Then the doctor tested her T4 and TSH
levels and discovered that she was suffering from hypothyroidism. She
then conceived after three months of normal levels. She miscarried due
to low progesterone levels and clotting disorder. She again conceived
6 months later. Her pregancy was maintained after taking metformin,
baby aspirin, and progesterone supplements. Finally after almost 2
years, she was able to hold her baby boy in her arms.

I am "just today" new to this site so forgive me for not understanding the lingo. Just wanted to let you know that I purchase some clomid over the counter while on vacation in Mexico and was able to conceive with that, I too am over 200lbs.Don't give up hope and if you have any ?'s feel free to email me.
Thanks for the Posting- I also had a female Doc who was so set on myself being overweight that she couldn't give me answers on why I wasn't having periods, she could only tell me I was lazy and I needed to get up earlier in the am (I get up at 4:30 now to get to work) and start excercising before work. She and I went around and round - I finally got tired of it after a year and still no help - I switched Doctors 3 weeks ago and was diagnosed with PCOS I love this Dr he delivered my 4 yr old and is very down to earth ! Don't they know "Fat Girls need Luvin Too ?"
Thanks so much for this info! We're planning to start ivf in October and I've been trying my dardnest to exercise and stick to WW to get these last 20 lbs off! I'll keep up with it but this is exciting news To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I agree with coochycoo everything i have is due to my weight as the doctors put it! and im also the same as only an auntie my ob/gyn won't prescribe me clomid until i have lost weight uggggg!
I was so convinced that I had to be thin to become preggo. My doctor would advise that I see a nutritionist. Then come back in for an evaluation every 3 months. The next month preggo and I have been the same weight for a few years now and did not lose a thing. I am 5'2" and fluffy 170lbs. Praying for a H&H 9months!

Thanks for the info, helps me realize that if medication and conventional methods dont work that it's still possible.

Well I'm new to this thread, although I've been on this site for a while now...
I've been TTC for 2 years now, and as most of us have- been struggling with weight all my life.
My recent DR. visit made me really depressed because although I'm on 1500 MET a day and PROVERA now to start my menstration, she wants me to lose weight before even putting me on CHLOMID or trying any fetility methods.
IT SUCKS!! She knows my financial situation, and knows I don't have med. coverage, so I cannot afford the ASTRONOMICAL amounts of money needed for the monthly testing while using CHLOMID. So, her advice for now is, "LOSE THE WEIGHT, DANNA."
I love my Dr. when she DX me with PCOS she asked me if I wanted to have children and I said yes. I brought up my weight as a possible issue. She looked at me and smiled and said, "Honey, we get women in here all the time twice your weight who are preg. so I think you will be just fine. I weighted at the time 275 .
