Hi Everyone..I have enjoyed reading your posts. Seems like the key is hormone levels, not so much weight. I guess weight can affect our hormones or our weight is caused by hormone problems which can affect getting pregnant and staying pregnant.

I hope this is the case!! :o)

Is Clomid less effective on heavier women?

I am heavy and having a difficult time with conceiving. With my daughter, I got pregnant immediately after losing about 35 pounds. But I'm happy to see this sticky. My RE has been wonderful about things, but my pcp and my gyno both are after me constantly to lose weight. Even the met hasn't helped me.

I was told by a doctor that I had to lose weight to start any type of treatment because I would need more medicine. Well I found and RE that is amazing and we got started on treatments immediately even thought I am on the heavy side. The first cycle that I completed in November I actually responded too well to the medication and hyper stimulated. So goes to show that I didn't need more medicine I will try the next cycle with less.

I'm so relieved to read this... although I am very concerned about my weight. Not so much for getting pregnant -- but for surviving the pregnancy. I had a really rough time last time and weighed 100lbs LESS than I do now.

I'm so glad I found this board.

I just saw an RE for the first time yesterday and she told me that I need to lose 5-10% of my body weight. She said she will still treat my infertility if I don't lose the weight, but I'm sort of bummed now. The thing is, I told her I exercise 3x a week, but I'm not sure she believed me. She said exercise 5x per week and join weight watchers. One thing she said is, egg quality can be less when you're obese. Like a lot of you, I'm concerned about time...I'm not getting any younger (I'm 31).

Hey ladies. I hope you don't mind me joining the string. I have been TTC #2 for over 18 months now. Did 7 rounds of Clomid and just this cycles started on Letrozol. I am on 1000 mg of metformin/synthroid/5 mg Letrozol CD 3-7/Ovidrel DH will not do IUI so we are on our own.

First BFP on the pill. Have a 3 year old DS.

Husband SA was normal.

Wishing you all the best.

hmm.. I am clinically obese at 270 lbs and when I read this it was like Yayyyyyyy maybe I an get started on having a baby quicker. Then I realized PCOS puts me at a greater risk for gestational diabetes and I just cant imagine not being bed bound with the weight I would gain from pregnancy itself. I mean dont get me wrong I will probably still be overweight when I start trying to conceive but I think I would be silly to try now.

Default Did IVF before

I tried IVF several times and got pregnant 4 times all resulting in miscarriages. I have lost weight since then ( a total of 40 lbs) and am thinking of ttc the natural way. I hope we all get a chance to fulfill our dreams of becoming parents. Lots of baby dust to everyone ttc.

Yeah, there are plenty of overweight women I know who have had no trouble at all conceiving -- and I am now considered a "normal" weight (I am 150 pounds at 5'8") but still have PCOS and still haven't been able to conceive. Some day they will understand.
