i am new to all of this. i was dx pcos when i was 15 or 16 and didn't pay much attention, i was to go on the pill and that would "fix everything". i didn't start worrying until my husband and i started TTC w/o any luck. now i'm 6 mos in on met and the dr isn't really trying anything else.... its so frustrating! i just want a baby, it's so unfair to me that all my friends keep getting prego on "accident" and are all uspet about it and i want one so bad and can actually take care of a baby but they get one... grr
I feel somewhat encouraged by reading this article and everyone's responses. I was just diagnosed with pcos and my husband and I have officially been ttc #2 for 4 months. I am overweight and trying to lose it but hitting a wall. My dr won't prescribe the metaformin yet she will only give me bcp. How is that going to help ttc? Thanks for all the info.

Great article! If I could only get my RE to go along with it. I still have 40lbs to go before I'm at the weight RE wants me to be To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I changed my doctor because I realized he was stalling treatment because of my weight. He even referred me to one of his collegues so that she could discourage me. Didn't work. I have changd to a doctor that has been much more supportive and told me she is gong to do what it takes to get me pregnant. There is hope for all of us, tall, short, thin and BIG!!!

It seems to me that sometimes doctors try to find the easy way out of doing things rather than taking the time to do what is neccessary or even right. I don't get it. But here is the thing...Yes, I am overweight, but I refuse to be told that the sole reason that I have issues is because I am overweight. Especially since I have sat here and watched a good friend who happens to be twice as big as me give birth to their second in 3 years, with no help at all.
I am certain it contributes...but I am also convinced it is not impossible!
*sorry...short rant*

Its good to have this info since there seems like there is big confusion on this topic. I have seen a couple of post where people have said their drs told them they were simply too over weight to concieve... thanks for the good info

I hope everyone finds a RE who is not weight obsessed. I am currently in the process of looking for a RE right now in my area, I am hoping I find a good one who does not think all my issues stem from my weight.
