Unhappy Weight = Provera Problems?

I have been taking provera for 2 months, and no results, not even spotting. I took it two years ago when I was 17 and 190 and saw results after 5 days from the last pill. Now I am 19 and 220 and no results. It it a side effect form being this heavy? I am on a weight loss program and have dropped some weight, but I am afraid to tell my doctor and even my mom that I have not seen results, only becasue I will have to admit that there is something else more wrong with me. Has anyone noticed this problem, or have any advise or solutions.

You need to tell your doctor. If you go longer than 3 months without getting a period, it increases your risk of a certain kind of cancer. I took Provera for the first time when I was about 220 lbs, and it did work, so it's not a weight issue. There may be some other reason you aren't getting a period and if you do have some kind of problem you need to know what it is and take care of it. Did you do a home pregnancy test just in case, if you are active? I read that if you don't get a period from the Provera then you should repeat a preagnancy test just in case you ovulated shortly before taking the Provera.

Good luck!

I haven't had this happen, but I remember reading of others having this problem. It was because they didn't have a lining to shed. If I remember right, it had to do with a problem with not producing enough estrogen. Your doctor should be able to do an ultrasound to see how thick you lining really is.

I also don't think it has anything to do with weight.
